I don't think they're superior. There are a mix of IQs here, just like there are with NTs. I doubt that there is any type of person - whether it be an NT, a person with any type of disorder/syndrome, or something completely different - that is completely superior to another.

I believe most Aspies do think they are more superior than NT's. But from looking at this thread upto now maybe not so many as I thought but I know that people get a feeling of superiority from appearing to be more understanding than the rest of society so maybe this is their way of being superior. :)

If you was to ask me if I think I am superior to most NTs then I would honestly say yes I am. There has been little to proove me wrong yet. I think I didnt start to become smarter than most until I was 13. I know that there is lots of subjects I am not good at too.

What does better mean? Does it mean smarter, richer, more moral, more beautiful? If any of these, I would say no. On the other hand, I find most NAS's to be much less appealing to me. They are lacking a certain spark, which I see even in low functioning AS's. So, in terms of a very subjective standard, aspies ARE better.

Of course, I would assume that given that I don't have tons of NAS's breaking my door down, trying to be my friend, that this is a double edged sword.

To be TOTALLY reasonable, it asked if aspies were smarter than MOST NTs! ALSO, you can be smarter, and not superior. Some NTs may have more endurance, be stronger, faster, and even THINK faster than I do, and I couldn't say I am superior to them even if I happen to be smarter. I could ALSO never claim to be smarter than all of them, etc... ALSO, if there weren't some nice, smart, decent NTs, this world would be FAR worse than it is.

Most.. how is that any better?

Well, it is better than ALL! Also, superior is like a step up from smarter. You can feel smarter, but still not superior. Oh well, maybe you can get an idea of where I really stand from the whole thing.

I could say plenty more, but I'm bound to be misunderstood. 8-(

Speaking of JUST this board...just before I took a break from here, I saw some pretty anti-NT [whatever NTs are supposed to be] threads. It made me uncomfortable because I don't believe anyone has any right to make derogatory remarks on another. We've all been subjected to some nasty treatment, but stooping to their level makes us just as bad. So, I guess there are some people on THIS board who think they are above non-ASD people.

I don't intend the above to be insulting; it's merely a personal observation. It also doesn't mean that I think all ASD people have the same mentality.

I don’t understand anyone: you must have a basic understanding of the objects under scrutiny to compare and contrast their positives and negatives.

BTW, I’m not an “aspie”: I’m Daniel, named by Karon; scared of everything but death, said to have many “mental illnesses” that which mean nothing to me other than listing certain “feelings” that I experience.

The average NT is brain dead. They just march through life not thinking about nothing, just follow the crowd and would do anything if it is what everyone else does and never think there is anything wrong with it.

Most of them have never had a deep thought in their lives or an origional thought for that matter.
Simple things are a total abstraction to them beyond their comprehension an even if facts are presented to them to support an opposing veiw they still will hold onto their beleif no matter how warpped it is. Most people are totally closed minded and can't be reasoned with because they are flat world people, once people believed that anyone who tried to convince them it wasn't was looked at as a lunitic to say it was round.

It's easy to think of someone as stupid if you don't know what it is like to be them. Not knowing what it is like to be an NT, we fail to understand some things about them, just like they, not knowing what it is like to be AS, fail to understand some things about us.

Hatred of nts is just a way of venting frustration.
I felt superior to the other kids in elementary school because they always bullied me which made them jerks. I was sustained by thinking that I was better than them. I never felt it had anything to do with AS though.
I don't believe in superiority at all now. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, even if the strengths or weaknesses are hard to find. I am relatively intelligent and I have musical talent, but I lack social skills and athletic ability.

^^ That's exactly the attitude I believe the OP was hinting  Sweeping generalisations and the insinuation that most non-ASD people are inferior.

Unfortunately, it's also the truth in many cases.

Personally, it's a coping mechanism for the fact that I've never quite been able to fit in anywhere, and if I'm going to be different, I might as well be better.

Besides, I can always hold out hope that we're the next stage of evolutionary advancement...*crosses fingers*

How is it true in "many cases"? It doesn't make sense to me.

How do you quantify the concept of a "deep thought" or even an "original thought", for instance?

At the very least, something it takes a bit of intelligence to comprehend, not an endless rehash of some celeb's love life or whatever's going on with American Idol these days. At the very least, someone who is an actual individual, rather than being exactly like hundreds of other people I've known. It's just boring.
