The only way I would ever go through a brain transplant is if it's my brain being put into a new body. I could see this technology as being used in the future, maybe people instead of dying will just have their brain transplanted into a new, younger body. I'd want my heart to come with me if possible. Thinking about how important blood is and how blood flow affects thinking I'd say there's a good chance the condition of your heart has influence on your head. It probably is not coincidence some of the associations cultures make with the heart, the beat of the heart at that moment that they feel could nourish certain parts of the head.

I wouldn't do it if there was a 100% chance of survival if it was a pill let alone a brain transplant.

if there were some way to slightly alter my current brain, i'd consider, but a transplant; no.
i generally am content with who i am, i'm not gonna become a new person.

even if there was a soul and a brain transplant would not change me that much, other then making me nt, the 50% of survival would still put me off

I'd do it. Absolutely. I try to make the best of things, not to dwell too much on the negatives, to enjoy my life as it is. But when I think of the things I've missed out on, and the things that I'm likely going to miss out on...

Yeah, I'd totally do it.

No because 50% chance survival. But if the chances werent that low then I would probably do it.

Would you still have the same conscience? I imagine that if it was possible and you survived that it wouldnt really be you anymore... like the conscience you were in your mind would die either way... like you would not be one waking up after the transplant... just someone in what was once your body... thats how i imagine it would be anyway and i would be more concerned of that then the chance of survival...

Being Aspie is hell, so I'll rather be NT or dead.

No, I may as well kill myself to achieve the same goal and save the taxpayer a few thousand pounds.

I honestly do not think I would go through with it with 100% chance of survival. What gives a person, not only ASD, but their thoughts, personality, feelings, opinions, hopes, dreams, and EVERYTHING else about who they REALLY are? Their brain! A body is nothing but an empty shell without the power within the brain. A body can live to a ripe old age on life support, but is still technically dead if the brain doesn't work. Everything about who you are, is ultimately tied up in that ball of tissue inside your skull. If you transplant the brain, you would die, and whoever had that brain previously would continue to live on within your body.

If you had a new brain wouldn't you be a completely different person? So wouldn't that mean you kind of do die in a way? :?

Even if there was a 100% chance of survivial, I still wouldn't do it. I like myself the way I am thank you.

On the Science Channel on the show Dark Matters they showed the Doctor who transplanted monkey heads onto different monkey's bodies.

I would like to stay autistic but in a NT's body with a healtheir nicer body. Perhaps one with a nice six pack and pecks like the ones I once had when I was 18 and just out of Army basic training.

I admit that I have always had a healthy fascination with moving body parts around, not just amongst different specimens, but also amongst different species. But my own brain has never been one of the body parts that I fantasized about moving around.

I voted no because I like who I am. What i don't like is how other people treat me and misinterpret things. And I don't want to be a mindless drone. I'll keep my own brain...

My brain for the most part is pretty sweet, just it's got a few little issues. It's like having a Ferrari, you know how hard a Ferrari is to use in actual daily life? But most owners of one would not trade it for a Honda Civic. It's just that you'll have trouble parking it, carrying passengers, etc. Different things have different uses, and I believe God created different people for different purposes as well. I can do things others around me can barely dream about, but then some things that come easily to others come hard to me.

Besides, if I had all that could possibly be lacking in me just randomly given to me one day, it'd be like sorta creating a super human, which isn't fair. I have strengths and weaknesses, it just so happens that my strengths are the general population's weaknesses and my weaknesses happen to be more of the general population's strengths. You can think of it in a yin and yang or whatever kind of perspective, but a population needs to be diverse to balance out things.

Or if you played Fallout 3, just pretend you're a Fallout character, and your INT is X and your CHR is X, and just look at things that way. Most people I know play the game multiple times on different characters, just to see what it's like with different attributes, they all work differently.

And no, you couldn't pay me all the money in the world to get a brain transplant.

There is no definitive, correct way to wire the brain. And my brain isn't wired in an incorrect way to begin with. So my answer to your question is no.

I saw that too. Poor monkeys. I bet that doctor is rotting in Hell right now for that. Anyway once the spinal cord was severed and the monkeys were not able to breathe on their own or any basic life functions.
