Regarding Autreat 2013's registration fee -
All adult-with-overnights (categories A, B, G, and H) and youth-with-overnights (category C) fees will be the same as last year.
See http://www.autreat.com/aut12fees.html for last year's full registration fees.

Note, however, that at the new venue the key deposit is only $50 instead of $60. Thus there is a $10 fee increase built in: You pay the same amount when registering but get back only $50 instead of $60 when you turn in your key.

For what is offered, that's not all that high of a price tag.

I'm looking forward to it, and I believe other WPers are as well.

Remember everybody, while the team's name is the "Vulcans", the residents of the town are not "Vulcans". :nerdy:

Right.

Autscape, in the UK, also has a very reasonable price tag:
http://www.autscape.org/registration

180 GBP is about $280.

Autscape lasts only three nights, so its price is naturally lower than Autreat's. Having Autscape at a boarding school, rather than a university campus, probably also accounts for its low price.

It seems pretty expensive to me.

I live in traveling distance and £75 pounds for one day seems a very steep price for a few talks.

I would go but do not have the money, having a graduate overdraft to pay off. I may however attend another year. I live within such a distance that I could travel in everyday by train but the fees without accommodation are rather steep - to the point where I might as well take accommodation when fares are taken into account. I can understand the fees with accommodation being how they are though.

"Maybe next year..."

Going to Autreat is on my list of things to do after I graduate from the Veterinary Technology program next year :D I don't have the time, money, or energy this year between work and intense studying :tired:

I would love to go to Autreat, but I doubt my parents would support me spending that kind of money. Perhaps if they believed it to be beneficial, but being Mom and Pop NT they don't really understand my experience anyway.

£75 for one day may be steep, but £180 for the whole event, including lodging and full board from Tuesday evening to Friday noon, is cheap.

In order to understand what you are talking about, I had to read this:

Due to the mixture of high cost and a totally uninteresting location(I'm canadian) count me out.

On top of all that the lack of a option to get your own accommodations really cheeses me off.

From what I gather much of autreat is poorly planned. I've heard rumours that only a vegan diet is given on the meal plan.

Which for me is Fing insane, Eating for me is the one comfort I have when traveling, being expected to change my entire diet while traveling seems like a complete contradiction for the event.

Anyhow I'll be sure to go next year(only found out about this years after moving across country). Although I don't agree with the planning, I do believe is supporting the event.

This was true in the past, but no longer, AFAIK.

Autreat's meal plan is still only vegan, because the person who volunteers to order it is vegan. If you want different kinds of food, then you don't have to pay for Autreat's meal plan. You can, instead, get your own meals at the university's cafeterias.

If we want a non-vegan meal plan at Autreat, then we will have to find someone who volunteers to organize such a meal plan. Up until now, nobody volunteered to do so. Whoever volunteers do organize this will have to, of course, work well with Autreat's organizers.

Autscape, in England, has a diverse meal plan, with meat, vegetarian and vegan options.

I'm pretty sure this has been directly contradicted in the autreatinfo yahoo group, but I'd have to search it.

In any event, California, PA is a college town, they have food eateries open immediately off campus.

Right.

Unrelated -
The campus where Autreat takes place is on the bank of the Monongahela River. I wonder if you could swim in it?
