Discvery Health show about family with 6 autistic children
I want to make one more comment about this show. I didn't watch the entire show, maybe twenty minutes of it. From what I saw of the parents of the six kids, they are all very lucky to have parents like these. They were so easy going and calm. They were honest about their feelings too so they could remain easy going. I thought they were outstanding, from what I saw of the show.
I couldn't help but be reminded of my own upbringing while watching. I saw myself climbing on tables, shelves, running around, jumping, etc, like I used to, like these kids.
One thing I noticed that was different was the reaction from the parents. They were so understanding. They understood the spirit of the climbing, the jumping and they didn't try to make the kids stop. My mom would have been hitting me and yelling at me. In fact, she did. Plus, she medicated me, all in the name of getting me to stop the same sorts of behaviours. She didn't realize how happy and content they made me feel.
I could tell the parents of these kids are so connected to that feeling of contentment their kids feel while moving. They allowed them to move freely, they were so accepting and the children are very fortunate to have parents like that. They are a true blessing!
