Why do Neurotypicals consider Aspies Disabled?
^^
This is myself(self Dxed) when not under stress , but it if sleep difficulties arise or having a major change in routine/or a challenge, then this moves into the impairment 'mild zone'....the monster get's out the closet.

They don't understand the way we think, behave and act. Therefore anyone who dosen't follow social conventions is weird.
Also, we don't follow their obsessions.
Anyway, for those who are NTs what do you think of aspies?
If I might ask, why are so many of your posts focused on "NTs" - who are by nature as varied if not moreso than those on the spectrum by virtue of greater numbers falling into that categorization (as I understand it) - when those on the spectrum cannot amongst themselves find consensus?

I've made no comment on the question of whether AS is a disability at all. All I've said is that I'm not persuaded that people with AS can't find work, because finding work makes someone with AS less likely to be identified as such. My view on the disability quesion, which I haven't indicated previously, is that AS is a disability which may or may not prevent individual sufferers finding and keeping jobs.
Perhaps you're confusing my remarks with someone else's. No offence taken, anyway.
I have not confused your comments with anyone else’s, although my response was generally directed at a common (recurring) theme as much as at your comments (and person) specifically.
The chain of happenstance which led to my inferences is that someone cited unemployment/underemployment as an indicator of disability. You objected to this, yet you described missing out on jobs and not being promoted as a result of the effects of AS. That does constitute underemployment. Since you describe that you have experienced underemployment, by process of elimination, I inferred it must be the designation of disabled you were rejecting.
I know plenty of not entirely functional, non coping non disabled people who work. I honestly do not understand why you would need to refer to coping or being a functional man to comment on employment, since one can be functioning and coping and unemployed/underemployed, just as one can be dysfunctional, not coping and appropriately employed. Are you able to explain the connection for me?
Bit of misrepresentation going on there, I believe. This is the part of the discussion in which I participated, summarised as I've understood it:
"People with AS can't get jobs."
"Yes they can. However, people with jobs are less likely to be diagnosed with AS, which skews the perception."
That's all. Anything else is either misread or unintended.
NT's think we're disabled cuz the need for social belonging is thought to be as deep as hunger or sex from cultural, scientifical, and philosophical perspectives. We have the need, but our means to get it is sh***y. If you see it this way, wouldn't it be considered a disability to you? Wouldn't you think people with AS suffer from it?
@FrogGirl: Yeah that's true. Matter of fact, there already is a pecking order of who's the more higher functioning. And before anyone gives me any moral BS, your ability to sense someone's strengths and weaknesses is what makes you recognize someone's place in the pecking order.
An example of this pecking order could be applied to something as driving qualifications. You would recognize which drivers are the best and which are the worst. Who would you trust? The nervous driver who freaks out from the slightest things when it comes to driving? Or the calm driver who is not only calm under normal circumstances, but is also able to keep his cool when the s**t hits the fan?
And if anyone can't recognize, then you are either in denial or stupid as f**k.
PS: I'm hiiiigh as f**k, so my post probably looks a little random.

The reason is quite simple. NTs study aspies all the time and try to find our quirks so basically I am doing that in reverse. See how misrepresntative it is? Actually, and ironically, I am glad you picked it up. I am using NT weaknesses against them and basically say "don't throw stones if you're own windows are made of glass".

Um... since when do "NTs study aspies" - ????? - this is news to me. I find most -people- regardless of their neurology to be self-absorbed, or at the least self-focused, so the very concept you suggest seems rather foreign to me. Further, it is those on the spectrum I most often find analyzing and dissecting things to minutiae, moreso than those who are not. Again, you are lumping a more diverse group into a single category and expecting to find truth there; I do not think you will succeed.

Due to me being somewhat disliked by everyone except my friends (obviously) I thought for a while I was a horrible person. Then I realized. It was them, they were simply complete idiots... and I didn't need to waste my time with them. They seemed to resent me, so fine... but I was going to resent them aswell (any annoyance was an excuse!)!
Hey folks Interesting discussion we have here! While I'm not AS, I was diagnosed with 'autistic disorder, Kanner's' when I was a kid. My $0.02? I don't consider myself disabled, never had problems with employment, but consider myself part of the community because I've been diagnosed before. I consider myself Aspie/HFA I guess, but I don't want to be stepping on anyone's toes here...
It's probably one of those things that can be a disability or not, like sweating a lot could be a disability if you live in a hot climate.
