When my son was around age one he used to like getting the table salt container and eatting salt.I find it stings my mouth but i like sea salt.Once i got mixed up with containers at a cafe and put sugar on my fish and chips. That was really horrible.

I love salty things too. I grew up a "Marmite baby" (Marmite is very salty) & I love crisps etc, plus salty gravy.

If I have chips I always put salt on them & eat all the extra salt at the bottom of the bag when I am done.

I'm not as bad as my Dad though, he showers everything in salt!! !

I like salt a lot, which seems to run in the family. I use low sodium salt (a mixture of potassium chloride and sodium chloride) since high blood pressure also runs in the family.

Is this an aspie thing as well?!

I'm a total salt-hound. As a kid I used to eat bouillon cubes like sweeties, and now I slather rock salt or shoyu on everything (you know marmalade sarnies taste even better with a sprinkling of salt?)

I have lovely low blood pressure - is this why my body tells me to fill up on salt?

As a side note, I find myself getting really ticked at all the reduced salt products now. I find I'm constantly adding more.

Wonder what the bio-chemists have to say about a possible AS-salthound link? Any research anywhere?

Dude, bullion cubes are where it's at.

Yes, definitely. I've been known to add salt to foods that are already somewhat salty (e.g., french fries). People have sometimes told me that I'm going to end up with a "sodium rush".

I also like to add salt to fruits. I usually add salt to oranges and apples.
