Hmmm that's weird. IDK maybe mine is just so slow because it's 12 years old and pushing 210k.

I am in the UK, we tend to have much better mileage cars, maybe that's why. We had a 10 year 2L estate car and it still got 40 mpg.

It's got nothing to do with the cars.
You're British, your gallons are 120% the size of US gallons.

Your car got 33 mpg by Yankee standards.

It's still not very good mpg. I get around 40 US mpg in the city, same as njxjord got on the highway. Some american cars got even worse. On holiday we were offered a car that did 15 mpg, not happening. Americans are lucky though your fuel is ridiculously cheap.

It's still around half the price of ours. If we didn't pay tax on our fuel it would be just less than half the price.

Probably, but at the moment it's getting cheaper. In the past two weeks it's gone down by 6p a litre.

I like to drive fast, driving slow is so boring and I love the high of feeling on the edge of breaking traction. I save my need for speed for the race track though, the police scare me and there are so many around here.

I never much liked driving at all until I got a Mustang :)

I like to accelerate quickly, and take corners quickly, but I don't generally exceed the speed limit by a lot. I do tend to pass more quickly than needed. By the time I get back into the lane I'm exceeding the speed limit by 20mph. Oops. I've never been ticketed for speeding.

I do hate following people who are driving slowly. It removes all decision making. You can only drive as fast as they do, and they decide when you slow down, etc. It's boring and tedious to follow.

Exactly my feeling! +1
