I don't know enough about him to answer, but I'm curious to see what others think on the issue.

I am personally of the view that just because someone's autistic, doesn't mean they're inherently good. I believe there can be good and bad autistic people, just as there can be good and bad non-autistic people.

As a major feature of his MO had to include approaching strangers on the street and disarming them with his apparent normalcy into following him into dark sequestered corners (granted they were prostitutes by profession, but after the first two murders there was a high degree of public awareness of his activity in the area), I would guess probably not. That would require a highly developed set of social skills and a knack for thinking quickly under pressure - the very antithesis of autism.

Right, but a working girl's still gotta make her money, so it was either starve to death, or take a risk with a serial killer (not to mention VD).

May I ask the point of these threads? The first one just ended up offending loads of people and no one found it funny once they figured it was a joke, and the second time, imo isn't exactly funny...

I don't know either. I think that they are meant to be provocative. Particularly since no one even knows quite who Jack the Ripper was, let alone what he was like. These threads follow the a standard format-- is some "evil person here" autistic?

Even if some really evil person was autistic, they certainly had something else that made them do the evil action, so the questions are really quite irrelevant.

Of course he was.

He never got caught. Only an autistic could be that clever. :nerdy:

100% autistic, definately. Don't understand why you didn't present it as a statement instead of a question...

There is no joke except in the mind of the asker, who poses a question, assuming that the query itself is stupid, pointless and irrelevant, therefore anyone who answers it seriously must be stupid, or gullible, or whatever - then the questioner sits back and giggles to himself whenever someone poses a theory in response, as it makes him feel superior. He has fooled them all, tee-hee!

On the other hand, it's been said there are no stupid questions, meaning the person who deliberately asks one believing it to be so, is himself missing an opportunity for insight and is therefore, a fool.

Why should we let that stop us speculating? 8)

Whoever he was, he was clearly a man of single-minded determination.
