I got addicted to blogging when I started my local political/environmental blog, and then realized that I had a lot of other things I wanted to say that simply were outside that blog's realm- too far outside, too personal. Since my mom reads my blog and can be a sensitive soul, I didn't want to upset her; since my neighbors read it too, I didn't want to have to face an intervention when I was out walking the dog one random evening.

So I have kind of an experiment going. It's a brutally honest blog, but completely anonymous. It deals with my trichotillomania, past suidical ideations, addictions, chronic pain, religion, loneliness, mean things people say to me, my beloved probable-Aspie grandma who died eleven years ago, finding and maintaining true love, which is possible; really anything that I feel like writing about. I know that many of these same topics are covered here on WrongPlanet; WordSprite is my own site, my home. I try to make it kind of funny too, or at least enlightening, somewhat optimistic, and worth reading.
I say "brutal honesty" but to maintain the anonymity, things like my husband's name, my cats' names (and other silly things like that) are disguised- kind of like a Jack Kerouac Roman a clef. I'm only known as WordSprite there -"the evil fairy on your shoulder". Everything else is true.

The url is wordsprite.wordpress.com (WordSprite) and I hope that maybe some other Aspies and sympathizers might feel at home there: I welcome you to visit, pop open a can of PBR or have a cup of coffee or both at the same time; smoke if you want, and enjoy one of my cats in your lap, figuratively speaking. You can leave whenever you like. You don't even have to let me know you were there or say a word.

I read and sunscribe to everything through blogger (as The River Otter-- theriverotter.blogspot.com) - i love the way the feed works- so I'll subscribe to you from there instead- deal? youy url is... ? or pm me?

edit DUH saw it in your sig. Subscribed! I make reading blogs a priority...so I'll be seeing you there.

I subscribed to the RSS Feed... Luckily my feed reader (Google Reader) figured the link out itself from your URL. It would be nice if you could add an RSS link for other people who use inferior :P readers.

I too heard all the bragging about wordpress. I tried it for six months and then migrated my only wordpress blog back to join my others at blogspot... Blogger is much, much better. Heck... If I wanted to follow your blog, I wouldn't have to bother copying pasting the URL into Reader, I could just click the follow button.

Btw, I love your quotes of the day...

Yes, Blogger/Blogspot is much more intuitive and easier to use in so many ways. I think that most of the hype about Wordpress is from Wordpress itself! It does have a few more features that can make it look more like a professional site than just some regular shmoe with his or her own blog, but you can do that with other hosting sites just the same.

I subscribed to yours too, BTW. Good reading!

i like my wordpress thank you very much! Blogger/BlogSpot does not have the intense flexibility that WP has NOR is it OPEN SOURCE.

Straps, I fully accept that open source is great and should be supported...

but what is this "intense flexibility" you speak of.

For the six months when I was using Wordpress, (about a year ago) I felt hemmed in. There are lots of features missing and the only way to add them seemed to be to write your own code. I wanted to write blog posts, not maintain the app.

At the same time, blogger just kept coming out with new features. I'm a big fan of those google apps (which anyone can write and share if they feel inclined to). Everything in blogger is plug and play.

I figure that good blogs are mainly about content, rather than style. RiverOtter's looks good.

Strapples-
I tried to leave a comment, but your site will not allow me to, even when logged in to my Wordpress account. Is this a glitch?

Agreed with the open source love! People can and do create new Blogger apps all the time though.

Thanks for the compliment, GBollard!

You can write your own code on Wordpress- it is CSS, different than the HTML which I am slowly learning for my Blogger blog The River Otter. I was able to tweak the preconceived layout enough for my own taste and needs on my Blogger site using some HTML features.

One big problem I have with Wordpress is that there seems to be no way to know if you have any subscribers. Since blogging thrives on such stats, feedback, and borderline narcissism, well...this is probably a huge deal for many people. Supposedly, looking at how many visits you are getting per day and how many comments is a good indicator, but, well, visits are not "fans" and don't show if anyone really likes it. My Riverotter blog has more than a few "lurkers" that just won't leave a comment (many ppl who read it are in the 50-60 age bracket and just aren't comfortable with the concept).

(LOL, just an aside, Wordsprite and Riverotter are two different people...who sometimes comment on each other's blogs...surely I am not the only person who has ever done this.)

Good discussion!

Ok but, I am logged in, and can't leave a comment- never had such a problem before! It was a nice comment too. And not spam LOL
