I would like to be but I dont think i would be so good as a politician. Simply because I never take no notice of them. I dont know much about politics except alot of seem fat.

I need to do something where I am in a position of power.
Like have authority and people listen to me when I speak.

It would be like, I will take a conference and every one will be like 'wow, when I walk into room and immediately be quite.'

I will speak into a microphone and they will hang on to every word I say. As being so true and interesting so even if I was to say something stupid no one would notice.

I have strong suspicions about the current MP for Mt Eden.

We all know of Honest Abe. Abraham Lincoln was president, long before AS and ASDs were documented.

Were there any?

I ran for president at my university and almost won. I think in many ways I knew how to "act" and because I saw politicians as shallow already I knew how to be deeper.

I for some reason can manage these macro social tasks, and feel passionate about social justice. Try asking me to feel concern for a friend just dumped by a boyfriend and I find it very hard to empathize.

My politics are completely radical however, because I think society is absurd!

Someone once told me they were sure Nixon was an aspie.
The quirkiness does seem to fit.

To answer your question about Aspie politicians, the person that is mentioned in the article below was diagnosed as a child with "borderline autism." I know this because we have been friends since we were young children. Myself and others that have done work in his communitiy have noticed that he has quite a few Aspie traits (including a couple of people that I know whom work in the special education/social work/ mental health realm).

Palo mayor wins award for flood work
Gazette, The (Cedar Rapids-Iowa City, IA) - Sunday, September 28, 2008
Author: Adam Belz, The Gazette

PALO -- Palo Mayor Jeff Beauregard received an award from the Iowa League of Cities for his work during the flood that devastated his town.

Beauregard was presented with the Rhonda Wood Smith Award at a League of Cities conference in Council Bluffs in early September.

The award recognizes the work of young city officials who are innovative, bold, committed and self-sacrificing.

Beauregard 's home -- like that of several other Palo city officials -- was heavily damaged in the flood while he was serving as mayor pro tem. He and his family are living in a Federal Emergency Management Agency trailer in northeast Cedar Rapids.

"I sacrificed my home," Beauregard said. "I didn't spend any time at my house to get stuff out."

He spent 200 hours working over a couple of weeks, he said.

The award is named for Rhonda Wood Smith, a single parent who was mayor of Garner, a town 20 miles west of Mason City. She died of cancer in 1997.

I myself am a political junkie.

I concur that Jefferson and Nixon were Aspies. I don't think Lincoln was, though. I think Lincoln was bipolar. The American president who strikes me the most as an Aspie was Calvin Coolidge.

I think Gordon Brown is an Aspie as well. Other possibilities are former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Abe is rather shy and is an avid pokemon collector. Vajpayee is a recluse and is, at 85, still reputedly a virgin.

I am a kind of politician, and I belong to the direction of the local chapter of my party. However, almost all militants of the party belong to the direction of the chapter, then this is not really an "office".

In local elections, I am usually candidate to executive positions (never elected) because my "comrades" think that I am not much good to Assembly-style positions - they think that I am better to work than to made speechs.

Being candidate to the executive sounds more prestigous, but my party only elects people to the assembly

I have an Aspie friend who really wants to run for political office. I think it'll be possible in the future, and add a certain depth that people cannot find in politicians these days.

2 years ago, it was suggested that I try and run for the Wild Rose Alliance Party against Ed Stelmach, but I didnt have a drivers license at the time nor did i have the money.

I hope to one day run for office in the Canadian House of Commons...but years from now...I do have party membership to run as a Conservative.

also.... Prime Minister Stephen Harper might be an aspie.

I agree. I suggested that on the "Celebrity aspies" thread a while back. His interest in the Gary Mckinnon case would seem to tally with that theory, too.
