Apart from being a community for people with AS, I find that WP is a good place to come to talk about all kinds of different subjects and find information about things you wouldn't feel comfortable asking about on normal forums that specialise in particular subjects.

Unlike most of the people on this forum, I don't have much interest in the academic research of AS/Autism. I happily accept the diagnosis I was given and enjoy interacting with people who have similar problems.

This place is very active and you are most likely to have your threads answered. The rest are dead or not as active.
Also, there are people here I like and I enjoy reading posts by them. There are some people I miss seeing here and wish they come back.

I changed my profile back to Have Asperger's-Diagnosed. I have the AS diagnoses and there are other aspies here who have claimed they talked late so why not. f**k the criteria.

The thing that I like about WP, is that when I come here, I'm not ostracized for being the way that I am, personality wise and with my special interests, that the NTs in my life call obsessions.

I like it here because I can be exactly who I am, AS or not. I like that I can bring up a subject I want to talk about out of the blue and I can share information that I find interesting. I like the people here who are naturally curious.

I feel comfortable here, most days. Sometimes even when there are trolls around.

There are more people here that I feel I relate to/understand, than there are in other places.

I can actually relate to many of the people here. The community is very friendly and supportive. Personality types are also very diverse and yet, that causes little conflict. We can usually work out misunderstandings here quickly and easily, instead of letting it devolve into a flame-war (unlike at many other NT-majority forums I have seen).

If someone is feeling very, very down, the members will actually help to bring that poster's mood up, rather than belittle said poster for being "emo".

Vocabulary and grammar here is wonderful! Most of the people here use a wide vocaulary range, and have excellent grammar and punctuation. Many of the posters here don't seem to mind reading "walls of text." The level of intelligence here is certainly higher than average.

In this forum, there are actually a few people I would love to meet in real life! :D

I like that I can post on here any time that I want when I need a question answered. I also like reading other peoples questions and thoughts because other people often think of things that I don't and it gives me more insight into my autism.

I can also be very honest about myself and still be accepted for who I am.

1. when you ask a question, people actually answer that question.
2. everytime i'm here, i get the "yes i feel EXACTLY the same way!" reaction from somebody's post. never had it anywhere else.

I like the vast majority of WP members, I can actually understand people here, it's okay to say something wrong and correct it, and people won't hold the wrong thing against you, I can ask questions that would seem stupid to normal people, I can usually understand why people here think what they think, and most people here seem to be able to do the same with me, so I actually get other people to correctly say things that I'm trying to say but not finding the right words for..
I don't feel like a total freak and outsider here.

I appreciate the good advice I occasionally come across from members who've had more experience dealing with problems similar to my own. Even less personally relevant advice has sometimes still been valuable to better understanding others and myself.

I like that on any given day I can find someone to talk to who is just as obsessive and weird as I am!

I like WP for many of the reasons others have mentioned. I do have an academic interest in ASD's in general, and in AS, specifically, and I always find it very interesting and informative to read the insights and experiences of various individuals from all over the spectrum.
Moreover, as others have said, I can really relate to what people here post, and it helps me to know that there are others out there who have challenges that are similar to mine. I also feel that I can be honest about my own challenges and oddities here, and I'm far less likely be be judged for them, than I would be IRL.
