I am just wondering how common this is amongst AS people.

I developed a facial tick (severe nose twitch) about a year and half ago due to the extreme stress I was under at that time. Luckily it went away when life got less stressful.

Is this common?

I've had Chronic Motor Tic disorder since I was a teenager (=chronic, frequent, multiple motor tics). Tic disorders are a common comorbid with ASDs/ADHD, etc. I don't know about tics not associated with a tic disorder though. Are you under eighteen? If so, your tic may have constituted a "Transient Motor Tic Disorder," which is very common generally in children (almost 20%), not just those with ASDs.

My tics are worse with stress and fatigue, and some of the specific tics have changed over the years, but they never go away entirely.

Funny note: I had paused a movie to go on Wrongplanet. After making my previous post, I unpaused the movie, and about 2 seconds later a character said, "Is that a new habit or a nervous tic?" Weird coincidence, especially since no one in the movie has any tics (the character who said it clearly has no idea what a tic is).

I almost always have tics, and they become more noticeable if I feel anxious or excited. So far, I have experienced stuttering, squinting, swinging my head and clicking.

I'm 33 I'd only ever had a bit of an eye twitch occasionally before that. The nose tick began after an extreme problem in my marriage.
