Get a metric ruler out and measure by millimeters. My ring fingers are longer than my index fingers. I looked at my oldest son (moderate autism), his is the same and I believe even my non-autistic son has a little bit more longer ring finger than index. It's been a while since I did that measurement.

Your index finger is the one next to the thumb, your ringer finger is the one next to the pinkie (smallest finger on the other side of the hand opposite to your thumb).

I would like to see some numbers. I gues since there aren't any in the article, then we can supply our own. Indicate whether they are NT, not NT, or unconfirmed.

On my right hand my ring finger is aprox. 14 mm longer than my index, on my left hand the ring finger is aprox 10mm longer than the index finger. I am self- diagnosed at this point.

I will check other people if able and supply their specs.

My index fingers are exactly the same size as my ring fingers, is this weird?

The article says that females typically have shorter ring fingers, and males have slightly longer.

My ring fingers are both about 3/8 of an inch longer (9.52mm) than my index fingers

My ring finger is just under a centimetre shorter than my index finger, so I guess what was stated in the article can't always be the case. :?

Where do you measure from?

If I measure from the knuckles on the topside, then my ring finger is only slightly longer than my index finger.

If I measure from the crease on the plam of my hand where the finger joins the hand, then the ring finger is about 1/3 inch longer.

I guess it is supposed to be the ratio of lengths, and that seems harder to measure correctly. I just put all my fingers together and traced the tips and measured. It is easier to point out that my ring finger is slightly more than one fingernail length longer than my index finger, and I think that also gives an indication of the ratio. So one might be able to say something like 1/2 a fingernail longer, or 1/4 a fingernail shorter, etc., and this should by default give the type of ratio comparison (roughly) that we are looking for.

That is what I want to know, what is abnormal? What is the normal variation?

The difficulty is where you start from...

Measured from the knuckle, my index fingers are just about the same length as my ring fingers, but viewed from either side of my hand my index fingers distinctly *look* longer... they also all measure about 2cm longer (10cm versus 8cm) measured from where it looks like they "start" on the back as on the front of my hand...
