Liking cartoon/video game character with no faces?

Heya, me again.....

I was just thinking back over some of my favourite character from video games and from cartoons I watched as a kid, and a pattern has come up; my favourite characters did NOT have faces...

Allow me to demonstrate.

This is a character called Orco from an old 80's cartoon called He-Man:


These character are from a French 80's anime called Time Masters:


And this is Vivi Ornitier from Final Fantasy IX:


There is a definate similarity between all 3 of them, they have eyes but nothing else. I actually have a cuddly Vivi doll, I love him to bits!!

It's hard to explain why I like them so much, I think I find them more adorable without facial features and I also find them quite safe-looking. My partner (NT) finds them all a bit creepy due to the lack of facial features.

Am I alone in this, or are there others who also prefer non-human-looking characters?

I think those characters are adorable, and I like how they lack facial features. It adds to their charm.

Thinking about it I like minimal features too

My favorite animated characters have always been animals. I can't stand animae because of the massive eyes. It's repulsive to look at and I fail to see why it is so popular. I remeber one of the reasons I loved Lion King so much was because there were no people in it. I figured it was because even at a young age, I saw human beings as nothing more than ignorant as*holes but I wonder if the lack of human faces had a part (I always considered the broadway show blastphomey).
