It occurs to me we have some of the finest minds on the planet here. We have creative minds technical minds , we have off the-wall find the solution quick minds.

Why don't we make a CV area where employers can contact us? A place where we show the world what we can do. For example I have been off work for 27 days and learned how to make commercial websites, and use HTML . I am a button obsessive now. Why can't I use this site to approach potential employers all over the world and do some paid work for them. I'm a good commercial artist and I could blend the two things.

Why don't we hire our specific skills out to find collective solutions to corporate problems?

Why don't we hire ourselves to governments and multinationals as lateral think tanks?

All of this can be done online. We don't have to go and meet anyone.

If we can begin to do this our skills begin to link up . (Those of you who know what I'm talking about -run the projected simulation here.)

Employers need people like us but they don't know we exist. Some are even out headhunting Aspies ( not literally)

It would positively raise the Aspi profile, send a clear message to the "non democratic eugenics party" we are are more than OK.

We could link into education and help other younger Aspies on their way up and we could offer them support guidance and training and help them find their work.

I'm in my mid forties, I don't have that road ahead of me anymore and I wouldn't mind giving younger people a start that I never had.

Is this a reasonable idea?

Oh yes, I almost forgot that all 'Aspies' are great artists who are able to edge out a living of selling their 'art' and can live on despite being unable to work in the office like everyone else.

Memesplice, you should make a website showing off all your skills and apply for web design/ development jobs. I know web developers that do that.

I work as a wedding photographer's editor. Even though it's a bit boring than being an actual photographer it's still a pretty good job for someone with AS.

It seems like a good idea. I know how hard it is to get a job and then manage to keep it.

Actually, when I start a software business and it expands to the point where I'm hiring, I have every intention of hiring aspies. They're the only ones fit for the job :)

I'm working on the Fusion processor for AMD. What's everyone else doing?

When I suggested "this site" I meant WP , can see potential for confusion and apologize- brain working faster then language generation and not checked back. Has slowed down now.

MFSIM- Painting houses, very conscientiously. You would not believe the mess NT's can make. There was previous paint all over the edges of the window glass on the last house I finished. All that is required is a razor sharp scraper and an hour of your time and some window cleaner to make it good. There was previous masonry paint dribbled all down a wall as well. I could not get this off without some serious industrial equipment ,so regretfully I left it. It is most annoying to find they have done this to the houses of nice families.

Point is ,we pick up on stuff like this and it really bothers us.

Agreed. I did [This Room] and it took an entire weekend of 14 hour days because I insisted on making the edges as perfect as they could be, which is difficult when the house is very old and there are already many layers of paint. But I really did my best, and then had to move out a few weeks later!

They are in business to make money, and their NT customers may not necessarily care about the mess :)
