Any of you guys consider yourselves to be disorganized? I have that problem all the time. I can never for the life of me keep my things straight, no matter how hard I try.
That's one of my biggest problems. When I feel like things are organized to a pattern I like, it quickly falls apart since other people say that it doesn't make any sense. When I try to organize things to a pattern prescribed for me, it never works out.

Yep.
It's hard to come up with a way to organize my stuff because if too many things are visible, I get visually overwhelmed and can't see what I have, and I feel stressed and exhausted. But if I put things where they're not visible, I forget that I have them. So I take the lazy way out and don't do much with them at all. Anyone in a similar situation?

Yes, very much. I find that keeping a day planner is helpful. I write everything in it, including hours I worked, things I have to buy, and reminders for upcoming deadlines. It's made life a lot easier.

I must have been really disorganised in a past life (or a few years ago ) because I'm hella organised now. All the items I need each day (phone/ipod/keys/purse) are always in the same spot. I also have started writing a daily to-do list.
Routines give me more structure too.

I CAN be organized - for about a day. Before life got complicated - I'l;l let you guess when that was - I might be organized for nigh on a week at a time. It is focus - I can be organized on the three square feet I am actively using, but can't spare time and energy for the rest of my world. Most of the REALLY organized people I have known don't seem to do or think or feel anything much outside of being neat.
And yet, I can usually pick out of the mess whatever I need very quickly.
i wouldn't say i'm disorganized, its more like i exist in organized chaos. though everything around me appears to be disorganized, i roughly know where everything is. once i get my own place (instead of living at my parents) i want to put labeled shelves all over the place where i can put things and hopefully out some actual organization in my life.

I won't be organised unless you let me organize whole day my way! If I have to wait for somebody or something somebody wants me to wait for, I'll wait doing nothing and getting impatient. Am not flexible.
I have always struggled with organization. Being organized requires being aware and I'm usually lost in thought so I don't notice where I put the keys. It causes a lot of stress in my life. They say the key is to simplify and not be overloaded with stuff. I'm trying but it's hard as I'm a borderline hoarder.
I'm not disorganized. I have a different organizational style.
Me too. I mean, I guess it depends on your definition of organized. What's organized for me is a mess to everyone else. What's organized for them if a complete puzzle to me.
I try to keep everything as organized as possible.
If several things are out of place, I start to feel like it would take an impossibly long time to get everything put in place and I give up, which makes things get even worse, which creates a cycle of organization getting worse and me feeling worse about it.
Right now, everything that is mine is very organized.
