A few of our members think so too, NinjaSquid, perhaps you would like to know what they posted about it?

Not sure if you are referring to the book?
It's a great book, my kids like it --
All Cats Have Aspergers (I got it here)

It is very simple, easy to read, and it is really interesting to read even for me as an adult, having so much in common with what it reads.

In actuality, cats are animals, & don't deal with the same afflictions (for lack of a better word) as humans. Cats may have many things in common with those who have Asperger's, but that's just because of their nature, not because they have the syndrome.

My cat most definitely has Asperger's. Although you don't suppose that could be because I have it? I've heard that pets will sometimes take on some of their owner's personality traits.

I decided I was a cat long ago, because I had never heard of Asperger's, but knew I felt more in common with my cats than my human friends and family.

I'd state it that "Many Aspies are cats."

The book is really good, simple to read, as im dyslexic, strait to the point and makes sense, and if you like cute cats, bonus.

Are they aspies? I think there just cats

Same here. When I had a cat for a while, I pretty much absorbed his behavior permanently. I even rowr at people in greeting, or almost yowl when I'm startled.

Why don't you ask a cat if he considers himself autistic? :cat:

The inability of a cat to read the meaning of your physical and verbal meanings properly, nor the ability to fully exhibit a working theory of mind... kinda puts them on the spectrum in comparison to a human.

They are normal for cats, naturally, as I claim I am quite normal for a cat, but not for a human.

My cat is so damn affectionate. She craves attention. Won't shut up unless you pick her up. She comes when she's called too. I actually think she may be a dog in disguise.

All of my cats are sociable and enjoy human contact as well as other felines, even the dog. They sleep curled up together more often than alone. I only have one grumpy one, and she is quite old, but she has started to be friendly to the others now. I don't think people are used to having multiple cats so they don't really see them as how they would be in their "natural environment" like if they were not domesticated. It is like dogs in a pack- I think cats would have a social structure, too.

if cats are animals, what are humans? Aren't they just animals, too?

The only reason that no one cares if they are 'autistic' is that cats aren't judged by other cats for the majority of human standards.

My friend Zac has a cat named "kitty." Kitty is a prime example of ADD. At random times She looks in a random direction and just stares straight into space for an hour at a time. She's almost catatonic too. It doesn't matter how much you call her, she won't even flick an ear. Kinda creepy actually.
