As in playing a vidoegame/watching tv? I tend to be rude while being engrossed in something. Sadly my little sisters get there rudeness from me at times (which is actually sad) and as of late I've been trying to change the issue but it's REALLY HARD! I was just curious if you guys are rude at certain times or all the time or what since I know being rude and not knowing it is an Aspie thing. :-)

if i was doing something really important that required a lot of attention, any interuption would really annoy me as it would take me a long time to get back into that mode. i am quite an abrupt person as a whole and it's something that i've been trying to change.

Always perceived as rude when I am busy. I can appear very rude. But it is because I cannot easily shift the focus and i get distressed by the unplanned engaging or communication from an unexpected source.

Yes I do. When I am over focused or concentrating or doing my interest, I don't want to be bothered and I act rude because I am being interrupted. Everyone gets this way or I should say lot of people but I think the difference is we get this way in things that are not important to the majority. They only get that way if they are doing something very important like paying bills. Remember that fictional computer guy who was downloading a project? It was something you can leave alone but I guess it was important for him to watch the screen. Jesus, does that majority do that when they download stuff? Yes he was the NT. The correct answer was it was the trash collector who had AS.

I am able to download and do other things on the computer as it downloads.

I don't think I'm rude but more silent,
until a background process in my mind
detects greater importance in the distracting talk,
at which point I ask for repeat if I can't remember
the words that seemed like stuff I didn't need to know.

It's not rude because the background process enables
me to switch more quickly to an important conversation
than I possibly could at the moment of interruption,
when paying attention to all sounds is not even possible,
so I'd lose not one but two streams of information if I tried.

I think it would seem equally rude either way since I'd still
need a repeat to accept an interrupting conversation,
but at least putting the interruption on autopilot saves
the interrupted information.

I think its rude that waiters don't wait, and ask in the
middle of an ongoing coversation sentence "is the food
OK?" even if it is obviously being eaten (its on the fork,
and less of it is on the plate). But when you really want
a waiter, you can't even get their attention by shooting lasers
at them (hahaha , and how rude of me , but true).

No I don't really do that, except maybe once.

Not really unless somebody was to continuously annoy me to hurry up while I'm busy doing alot of things and sometimes, that does get on my nerves... I just normally try to keep my cool so that the other person doesn't end up getting upset.

Sometimes when I'm really busy at work trying to figure something out or multi-tasking I can be rude.

this happens a lot for me, yes - if I am doing something intense - writing a complex document or something else that requires focus, I cant stand to be interrupted. I get really cranky!

According to some people, yes. But that's the reason why I don't serve in Sunday services anymore.

Yes, also when I don't expect people to be talking to me. If I'm in a mood where I don't want to be around people but then they come in my room sure I'll be rude, to get them out of there.

I think it's a common thing; I've noticed it with many people, myself included. I don't think it's restricted to those with ASDs.

I can be either abrupt or distant when someone comes and interrupts me or just starts talking when I am engrossed in something. All of my interests require my undivided attention. I try not to be rude, but it is also rude to interrupt someone abruptly when they are so obviously engrossed. I don't snap or yell though. That isn't necessary. Usually I am not really paying attention to their words, and that can be rude as well. My mom tells me to let her know when I am that involved with something because she doesn't like repeating herself.

I would certainly be able to move aside and give the janitor the trash can even with my eyes on the screen! That downloading guy was just a jerk. I also hate watching a download. I do other things, as well.

I'm pretty rude when people interrupt me at work when I'm in the middle of something, especially when I'm trying to solve urgent issues. In fact, I think I have made quite a few people very wary of me as they always apologise when they need to ask me a question.
