Anyone else like this?
I hate it how people around me can put such garbage in their bodies and still be able to be doing things at their normal pace, but with me if I have say a chocolate or a cheeseburger I get very sluggish. I always seem to have to eat healthy food to make my body feel the best.
I had a Happy Meal and well I think I'll just go lie in a coffin right about now. During Easter I was feeling very sluggish too.
When I was under 20 I was very unhealthy and I'm really not sure how I got things done. Though I did get diagnosed with chronic fatigue so I must have been a pretty lethargic person.
I don't know about you but there's nothing better then a chicken and salad sandwich or a bowl of cereal or fish and salad (hot chips with fish just defeats the purpose of eating fish). I get so much energy from it. And a simple packet of chips or even hot chips is enough to slow me down and make me feel like I haven't got enough energy in me to walk from one end of the house to the other. Mind you it's a big house, but that's besides the point.

Anyway, this thickshake has done me in. I think I could sleep for a million years now.

Yes, me too. I don't have problems with chocolate, but I don't like sweets much and eat them rarely and in moderation.

I can only tolerate burgers if I choose and prepare the meat myself and I prefer roasted or baked potatoes to chips. I hate the taste of junk or highly processed foods and they make me feel slow, bloated and a bit disoriented.

I strongly favour fish and shellfish, salads and stir-fry veggies, light sauces and dressings freshly made. Small meals too - things that are hard to digest definitely affect my mood and ability to concentrate.

Congratulations on reaching this particular piece of self awareness! Listen to your body, it's telling you an important truth. See if there's a correlation between your consumption of various things in relation to recommended daily allowances and how you feel. The recommended daily allowances for the various fats are surprisingly easy to exceed.

I'm also guilty of consuming far more junk food than necessary. Luckily, I have a very efficient metabolism. I often feel like Shaggy from Scooby Doo, who can eat half his weight in junk food and not gain a pound.

Whenever I go to McDonalds I try to keep my calory intake at a minimum; i.e. getting a medium fry and a 4-piece McNugget (I used to always get a large fry).

Sometimes I wish I were bulimic...

I feel nauseous and sluggish just reading this! I can see one junk item occasionally- like French fries one time and then next time get a burger with a salad. If you break it up it doesn't overload your system like that. I don't know how folks eat a burger fries and shake all in one sitting. It makes your digestive system work way too hard and so you get sluggish. I know some people stay thin and eat like hat, but being thin does not equal healthy. My daughter appears to be a healthy girl- tall for her age and appropriate weight for her height, but she has high cholesterol that started when she was 4 years old, They didn't tell me until she was 5, though, because her cholesterol was 199, and they don't tell you it is a problem unless it is over 200  What is scary is that I have always provided a healthy variety of foods for her-not a lot of the junk that is out there for kids. She is 10 now, going on 11 this month, and I still worry for her. So you can be very young and thin and have this problem, and diet does count, even if high cholesterol it is hereditary.

Chocolate is actually good for you, the dark one. According to research, it lowers cardiac problems if you take some daily.

I might just add that it's not after a lot of unhealthy food, it could simply be one item. And skinny doesn't necessarily mean healthy. And if I were to get a meal from Mc Donald's it would be small.

I recommend going (1) organic, (2) off of high fructose corn syrup (stuff found in thousands of food products - it's a food additive commonly found in things like "pop/soda"), and (3) going off hydrogenated oils (trans fats). Those three things alone should make you feel much better.

I have problems with any chocolate with a cacao percent below 60%.
It makes me angry, it is too sweet and I think chocolate should be bitter.

I suffer from various problems when taking milk or other dairy products: excessive wind, unpleasant feces, swelling of chest, spots, bloating, headache, so on and so on. I think it's lactose intolerance.

Some people can drink a sugary drink or eat a Mars bar and feel great afterwards.

I think a little bit of junk food now and then can actually lift the spirits. It's well known that eating a lot of sugary foods can give you an energy boost, but it's often quickly followed by tiredness.

Dark chocolate at least 70% works for me.

That's the reason that I stay away from junk food. I know it makes me feel horrible, so I don't eat it.

Yeah don't believe those High Fructose Corn syrup propaganda commercials- "fine in moderation" is meaningless to Americans, who have no concept of acceptable portion sizes any more. HFC is highly concentrated sugar, and a small amount can even be too much. It is better to cook your own foods and bake your own sweets than to buy pre-packaged foods and mixes. You don't get the HFC or the preservatives and additives that come on prepackaged items. Some of the oils and silicones that are put in those foods are to blame for your sluggishness, too.

Hmm, I suppose I could go off the pre-packaged food. Easter was such a terrible time. Pizza for dinner? Well I never! I've gone back to a diet of fruit, poultry and wholemeal bread.
I get tired and a runny nose from dairy too so I only have a little bit of milk in tea or coffee.
I rarely have soda. Maybe a small cup of lemonade once in a blue moon.
It still annoys me that people eat unhealthily without it bothering them, especially when they're overweight.
