Anyone else think like this?

One odd thing that keeps occuring to me is this:

My ASD has improved dramatically in recent years, and my life is (finally) starting to come together. So far, so good, right?

At the same time, however, it's only coming together because of 2 other things that have nothing to do with my ASD improving:

1 - Meeting the 'right' person. I'm not talking about anything romantic in this instance, I'm referring to someone who presented me with a unique business opportunity.

2 - The internet. Basically, there's no way I could do this business opportunity without the internet.

I can't help thinking, therefore, what if my ASD had improved much earlier - say 20 years ago? I still couldn't do what I'm doing now (which is my dream job) because I wouldn't have met this person, and the internet didn't exist. In fact, I probably would have ended up in a pretty boring job in my small home town! Actually, I would probably have stayed with the company I was working for, but just applied myself better, and been more successful. So pretty boring middle class life I suspect (though much better than the **** I actually did go through in my twenties/thirties).

So:

- Whilst I'm not a great believer in fate, do you ever get the feeling that certain things are beyond coincidence; that, somehow, a 'perfect storm' of seemingly random events seem to come together at just the 'right' time.

- Do you ever consider how **** things were before the internet. Even if you're not online all the time (I'm not), it just makes such a huge difference doesn't it? What would you be doing now if it didn't exist?

well things do happen that are more than just chance. Some believe it is God, while others believe it is a universal human will...and others dont believe in anything beyond chance.
My life has proven to me...time and time again...that there is someone manning the master controls of life.

As far as the internet goes...it has opened my world up to where I have access to help find out information about my mother's illness, she has a rare disease, and also what is going on in our world in a way that one would never find out through newspapers and tv...like group stalking which we have been a target of.

The internet is also the only true medium of free speech left in our country...all else is run by cooperations and local politics. That is why Net Neutrality is such a vital issue. Those who are ignorant of the issue think it is about banning child porn sites and the like, but it is really about the fact that google acquired a government security clearance and plans to use it. This means they have access to classified info, which means they plan on acting as the internet arm of the government. So the information that google plans of blocking has to do with information that the government does not want folks knowing...like group stalking, fusion centers, wiretapping citizens and things like that.

Would it be asking too much for you to elaborate on this?

You're describing the feeling of fate. Many, many others have felt this way throughout the course of history. Fate has been romanticized through the ages. And yes, I feel it often, and I understand why so many people are theists because of it.


It is hard to remember life before the Internet, isn't it? It's the same with cell phones. Yet we all got along just fine back then. We didn't feel that there was something missing or lacking.

I actually hope my ASD dosen't "improve" - what would distinguish me from the rest of the world then? I'd be just like everyone else. I see my AS as an asset.

Anyway, I often think about fate and stuff. I met good friends online completely randomly, for example.

I don't think it will ever approve, you just need to work around it. Kind of the way that people can't fly so they go in airplanes I suppose.
