One of the traits described in a list of female Aspie traits posted in another thread is "Hates injustice and hates to be misunderstood. This can incite anger and rage." I'm assuming this would apply to males as well.

I find that injustice is one of the things that I find hardest to accept. Both social injustice in the world and petty injustice in my own life. And by hard to accept, I mean that I can't get over it, it just gnaws at me. And it makes me angry that people are generally so indifferent to it.

Setting aside social justice and other political issues for the moment, an example of petty injustice that really upsets me is when someone does something deliberately cruel to another person (like female bullying, which tends to be focused on shutting someone out of a social group). Other people tend to see it as no big deal. It makes my blood boil, and I could never continue to be friendly with someone who I think is cruel, but most people couldn't care less and they think I'm completely overreacting. (And sometimes I do overreact, having a meltdown of sorts where I might start yelling....)

I've also read that Aspies are more likely to see things as black and white, and to see people as all good or all bad, which is something that I tend to do, even though I'm in my 40s and perhaps should have developed some perspective by now. :)

Anyone else have this issue? And is it an AS thing?

It does tend to irk me when some people tend to treat terrible things with a degree of light-heartedness... I suppose I can get the dark humor when it's done with at least somewhat of an understanding of how terrible these things can truly be... but some people do treat it as an actual joke... that is, they truly seem to treat things like genocide like the plight of a blonde with white-out in an office.

Surely disproportionate number of people on the spec (and many others with significant mental disorders) have a strong sense of injustice.

Considering it's still socially acceptable to relegate those with mental disorders to the untouchable caste, it would hardly be surprising.

In fact....i've encountered quite a few fellow Libertarian socialists/anarcho-communists and other "hard leftists" among the ASD community.

I hate both injustice and bullying. I tend to do evil things those who practice these things.

Yes. Though if it is an issue, the issue is that other people are wrong.

There is a tendency towards it, yeah, though the community holds plenty of people with very different viewpoints.

Exactly, and then when they are confronted the ones who shrug and say that's the way it's always been. That may be true, but I believe a certain amount of idealism is important to hold onto. Once a guy said if he didn't laugh he'd cry and I said maybe we need to cry a little more. I'm talking about people who laugh about children prostituting themselves in 3rd world country's so they can feed their families. That's tragic, that's not funny.

some folk THINK of life as a comedy, others FEEL it as a tragedy. the former tend to be on top of things, the latter tend to be underneath the former. if the roles were switched, they would surely experience pain but then if the places were switched back again, the bulk of the thinkers would soon forget and go back to being part of the problem [cavalier disregard of others' suffering] rather than part of the solution. it is said that forgiveness is as the fragrace of the violet which holds fast to the heel which crushed it. so us FEELERS must continue to be the crushed flower fragrance which tickles the olfactory bulb of the THINKERS, to remind them again and again that we both are the yin and yang of earthly existence. somebody must be the conscience of the king.

when someone laughs about someone else's suffering
I feel rage
and I want to hurt them
which would cause them to suffer

The top 1000 wealthiest people in the UK (population almost 61 million) are worth £330 billion.

Does anyone consider that fact unjust? Does a person deserve to earn million upon million for some good business decisions/good fortune/good contacts/privileged life in the past? To the point where they have not just £1 million but 5, 10, or 100 million, all for themselves?

I hate injustice with a vengeance. Both personal injustice and injustice in a more general way.

I have built a whole world view around how and why humanity needs to overcome it in order to survive.

Injustice really rankles with me, and I often complain about unjust actions or status quo. Sometimes people say I am sticking my nose in where it does not belong, sometimes I just get sidetracked from things that other people think are more important.

I also dislike mistakes and being misunderstood. Again, I can get sidetracked into correcting some misunderstanding that perhaps makes no difference anyway.

I hate it to the point when I carefully avoid entering links to articles in which the topic of some social groups discriminated against is raised, it would just make me angry too much. :P

I also feel uneasy about the social injustice that I see, around me. I see teens singling out anybody who's different, and calling them retards, I see parents abusing their children. I've lashed out, at a parent or two, as a Punk Rocker, saying if they didn't want their kids to turn out to be like me, not to abuse them. I see the way that some dog owners treat their dogs. I've heard angry young men, call people fagots, into their cellphones. I've also seen guys treating their girlfriends like garbage. I've seen it all, and I don't like it.

I despise injustice in all forms, and my 12 year old who I think also has AS, is as bad/good as I am about it. She and I have both gotten in trouble at school for interfering when someone else was being treated unfairly. I had to have her father talk to her about that, because I had nothing to say...except congrats, you're brave (and that would not be ok with the school).
