Huh! I didn't think of that one, but then my wife's pretty sure she's an Aspie now, so if she's right, then it probably doesn't count in my case!

I'm actually quite empathic, though I have have problems expressing my own feelings at times.

I'm not as completely socially inept as when I was a kid and young teenager, but I do still talk to myself.

I suck at math, but I'm good at biology.

I can recognize people's faces, and I can recognize feelings on people's faces.

While I hate crowds, they don't make me shut down.

I have friends outside the Internet, though I still consider myself a loner.

I have an acute sense of humor.

I have a great imagination.

I can make eye contact with my siblings and parents (as long as it's not too much).
edit: ooh, I once worked at a call centre making cold calls. (I only lasted a day, but they liked me)

I am not a sociopath.

I have a good sense of humor.

And I can make friends easily with intellectual types.

I think fashion and interpersonal interactions are as fascinating, complex and interesting as math.

(As it happens, I also suck at math.)

ASPIE FAIL.

I do well in crowds... Of people I don't know. (People I know on the other hand, not so much.)
I thrive on sensory overload. (People-watching at airports, concerts, etc.)

I can hold a conversation.

I am not mentally impaired.

I can be quite sarcastic.

I've never had a seizure due to looking at certain things, or at all for that matter.

I am not self-obsessed.

I love some of the stuff coming out of here. Some of you are really getting the idea of the thread.
No reservation. You don't HAVE to be typical Aspie for everything. It is OK to be you and have some aspects of you that don't conform to stereotypical expected norms...in fact that is sometimes more interesting.

One employer at a job I was placed at early on in the piece stated "Mate you have Autism. We want to give you support and help out however you need it. You are a great worker. You do a great job and seem to be on top of it all the time. We are pretty happy with you and we have no idea what it is you need or have trouble with?"

Furthermore the other day I was at my friends place and their teenager Aspie sons were explaining who at school the youths could be explained into jocks or Aspies. I thought it hilarious. They were describing tracks and friends and foes that fit the different categories and fitted in neatly in there generalised little viewpoint. I said "OK what about me" They looked at me and appraised me physically and then in disgust said "Jock" (Down went their theory like a lead balloon)

So MoniqueJ, WillMcC, Who am I, MathGirl, SilverWolf7, B9, Villette, Kia Williams, Idaho Rose, League Girl, Ancient Chaos, Ooooooandooooo.........you are failures and ought to hang your collective heads in shame (or at the very least have a good laugh at yourselves). Thanks for contributing here in my little thread. Thanks for really embracing it and not taking it too seriously either.
