Sometimes when I am in a deeply agiated state (almost always before I knew what Asperger's was and that rocking and stuff like that when I am aggitated is perfectly "normal") I turn on music and sing along with it and use it to calm down my mind. Does anyone else do this kind of thing???

I'm sure a lot of people do, Ender. Music rocks.

I don't sing along but the music realy helps especially if I can cover my eyes so all the is to think hear or see is the music and yes when I do it I tend to see it also but I can't realy describe it. It actually works as good or better than panic meds I have but I need more time and to be immobil.

I constantly stim with music. I also watch (and listen) to movies to stim with. For instance I'm watching terminator 2(well technically listening, but due to my memory when listening to it, i can EASILY watch it in my head). Over the last 3 days I must have listened to or watched(probably listen to a lot more) over 24 times.

I don't just like to listen to music, but I have to be able to feel it. That's probably why I am so attracted to some really heavy stuff, because I can feel it. Just listening to softer stuff doesn't have the same effect. I tend to really like anything with a lot of power and with excessive drumming, say a large array of metal and hardcore bands. And, yes ... it provides a mechanism for stimming.

Yeah, I find that music is great for stimming. :) I always carry my MP3 player in my pocket with me, and whenever I feel stressed out or nervous, I have certain songs that just instantly calm me down. I can't do it so much when I'm trying to do other things though, as listening through headphones muffles my other senses (one time I was listening through headphones while trying to draw, and I ended up having to take the headphones out to see what colour I had picked up... ). Films work for me too, and I've spent many late nights watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show when trying to calm down. :) (Probably not a film many would choose, but it works for me. :P )

i am guessing that stimming means to calm down, or to listen to music.
