Hiya

This may sound a bit odd, but I really want to learn guitar as my special interest is blues but I also have the sensory issue of hating light touch. This becomes a problem when I brush a string with the pick or my fingers and I have to stop, go for a walk and try and calm down. I play drums as well and sometimes get it then too. It is becoming a real pain and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on getting around sensory issues?

Thanks

I am a multi-instrumentalist, but my main instruments are piano and drums. I strongly dislike a person lightly touching me, but I don't seem to have a problem with putting my keys on the piano. Do you have problems with using the keys on the keyboard to type? If not, I know that piano can be a really bluesy instrument...

Unfortunately yes, and have wrecked many keyboards. I did try learning piano when I younger and it was even worse to the point where I had to stop.

I may look at making some gloves with rubber tips but it will probably do more harm to the music playing than good to the sensory thing! Oh well...

All I can say is, try to keep your fingers away from the strings more.

Maybe this will help you play better. If you want a clean sound, you shouldn't have your fingers brushing against the strings.

Also, it's a really good way to get blisters :x
