How many of you have a hard time opening things such as packages or even candy bars on occasion. Is this normal for someone with autism? Also, I bought myself some cables from RadioShack and exchanged it today after opening the package and realizing they were the wrong set of cables. The cashier who happened to be the manager commented on how much I demolished the box. She even had the cashier open the package I bought so I don't demolish it. I've always been terrible with opening packages. UGH

I do. I've gotten better because now I try to stop and THINK before I just tear into something but it's still a bit ridiculous. I think it has to do with poor spatial relation skills/understanding, I am awful at understanding how things are put together and also at understanding how to take them apart.
I have a hard time opening things, so I usually have a pair of small scissors with me. And I hate opening jars.

I have trouble opening things, though my fine motor skills are quite good.

I always use scissors for packages like crunchy salty things. If I don't they will go flying everywhere if I actually do manage to get them open. Nothing opens the way I hope it will.
Jars require someone stronger or maybe one of those grippy openers. Those are handy.
