Why is swaying seen as being peculiar? It's one of my stims (and a common stim), but I see a lot of NTs do it occasionally, also. Nobody tells them that what they're doing is weird, yet teachers tell me to stop doing so because it looks weird.

I just don't get people. It's swaying. What's the big deal? Some people tap their feet on the floor, some people pop their knuckles, and some people sway.

I think it can be seen as body language suggesting that you want to walk away. I'm not sure where I read that though
