I keep having sudden outbursts of shame or embarrisment caused by things i done in the past that i think may or may not have been rude. There triggered almost randomly and when they do happen i usualy shout or do something random. I am getting tired of them since I cannot change the past, I was wondering if this is part of autistm and if so how can i take care of it?

If they're causing you shame or embarrassment, then avoid doing those things in the future? Try to find something else to think about and leave the past where it is, you can't change that but what you can change is how you act from here on.

I thought I was the only one who had those. I've yet to find a way to take care of those.

I try to tell myself that but it doesent stop the outbursts, they come completely at random and when they do come i almost lose control.

I get flash backs all the time about things that I did, things that were done to me, and of things I should of done, I usually mutter something to myself and move on otherwise it I would get upset over things that happened when I was a kid or teenager.

I have this problem as well. It's one thing to have this insight and quite another to actually be able to do anything about it. The best I can manage is to close my eyes, count to ten and say to myself: "No, I'm not thinking about this anymore". It never lasts.

As far as I know this is pretty typical for an aspie.

One of the theories is that autism is a different method for storing memories in the brain. Which is why autistics typically have such good memory, well at least when it comes to their interests. This is both a blessing and a curse.

A blessing because autistics make brilliant scientists, inventors and engineers where good memory is of great importance.

A curse because it leads to these flashbacks to past events, and also to interpersonal and social issues where their peers are unable to recall the same events.

Hide them in the back of your brain like I do :(

I get this all the time. I suddenly remember something shameful and I do something weird like mutter something or go to hit myself or something just as physical. Or even things that COULD happen!

After hearing everyone it's good to know that I'm apparently not crazy, either that or we're all crazy together.

When that happens is there a twitch or tic (or vocalization) that goes along with it? If so I defintely get that, especially after socializing IRL. It may be something called a "thought tic," which is related to Tourette's, but I haven't researched that enough to be sure yet.

You're not alone - I get those all the time. I almost always apologize when I know I've been rude, but I can't stop feeling guilty because I worry that I've caused long-term psychological damage to the person I was rude to. I don't have any real coping strategy besides ignoring my unnecessary guilt and trying to forget about it.

THIS HAPPENS TO ME ALL THE TIME! it can be so embarrassing I think I made a pot about it once. I often find my self saying or shouting NO or some odd response to it! this can be so challenging. I am SO VERY glad to know I am not alone!
