Do you skip sometimes when you walk? I do sometimes.

Sometimes I wish I could, but my self-awareness and social intuition kicks in and stops me doing it. Sometimes I hate people for being around and judging. Just today I was sitting in my garden and made a funny noise to get my cat's attention, and at that point some prick was walking along by my garden and he probably heard and thought "that girl must be ret*d".

I get the urge to skip but never give in to it.

I do if I'm really excited

No. I'd probably trip and fall, not something I'd want to do at my age.

I do and feel like a big kid but my way of strolling is my way of strolling, it's not a conscious effort to have such a jittery rhythm.

a "life" without risk is a life unlived.

There's something happy and infectious about skipping. :D

I used to do this all the time as a kid, until I got made fun of at school for it and thus stopped completely

I don't know. Maybe? I know I know how it feels like and it feels familiar but I never paid attention. I probably do it when I am in my house or garden or when I am excited or just in a good mood but - I can't recall if I really do.

No, wait. I remember I actually do it sometimes in front of my house while I am moving to open the gate for my mom to get the car out of garage when we are going somewhere nice. So there are probably some other situations like this I just can't remember because it's nothing important for me.

Is that type of walking unusual?

^ i would say it's uncommon...and for some reason seen as typically feminine, at least here.

of course, there's nothing really wrong with it.

I did up until I was 11, when a "friend" of mine told me that it made me look "gay". Around that age, that's typically the last thing you want to look like to people. =P

No but as a child, for ages I'd focus on placing my feet exactly in front of each other - only recall that so well because it used to drive my mum mad. :) Today I often find if I'm standing still in a public place, I often start subtly swaying about to a private tune in my head (there's always a song stuck in there, somewhere). I find it perplexing and ironic that I can't stop myself from doing this when I'm otherwise so fearful of gaining notice outside.

I don't skip, but I'll randomly take off running if I'm not paying attention to my surroundings, and people do stare as I'm a middle-aged woman. Very embarrassing.

I used to skip to get out of people's way in my second role as a quality inspector. I recall my boss making light of it on at least one occasion.
