Ive noticed something odd. Most people complain of headaches when they are lacking sleep, im the other way around.

I always have a headache on my days off from work, i normally work 7a-3p so im up around 445-515 am. On my days off, i wake up closer to 630, often with a headache. Does anyone get headaches from oversleeping? I go to bed around 9pm every night regardless of work schedule, so basically when i get more than 7.5 hours of sleep i wake up with a headache, the only way to get rid of it is to sleep.

My vacation starts at 3pm tomorrow, on tuesday im taking a trip so ill be up at 430am to go to the greyhound station, ill see if i get headaches next week...

As an aside... do aspirin/ibuprofen/naproxen help your headaches? NOTHING ever works for me.

I get headaches from oversleeping. I never really thought it was unusual?

No idea. I get up around 7am ish and go to bed by 11pm.
I do get headaches quite a lot though. Probably stress or light sensitivity.
Ibuprofen sometimes works. Not on the horrifically bad ones though.

It's very common to get headaches from oversleeping. If you get them from sleeping a certain number of hours but the only way to make them stop is more sleep, are you sure it isn't that you just needed more sleep in the first place? Or is the way you sleep/your bed giving you headaches? I usually sleep in a comfy bed with a memory foam mattress topper and pillow, and I've been waking up with headaches since not sleeping with it (home for the holidays, not in my usual bed).

Lortab doesn't even work for me, but I've always had a high tolerance. The best thing I can do is put an icepack on my head and do something relaxing...I like to watch TV or read, but some people it bothers their eyes when they have a headache. Have you tried muscle relaxers instead of the mild painkillers/NSAIDs? You could consider having a sleep study done if it's a big problem for you.

Yes, I get headaches from oversleeping. That sometimes happens in weekends, when I'm lazy to get up early and just stay in bed longer and sleep more than I really need. I also get headaches if I just lay in bed too long, even if I'm awake. I wonder if it has something to do with blood flow to the head or some muscles.

I don't usually get headaches from lack of sleep, unless it's a really severe lack of sleep, like going 2 days without sleep.

Painkillers never work for me when I have headaches like these. Actually painkillers rarely work for me for any pains at all.
