How old is she? Have you managed to get the name of the boarding school or the location of it? Sounds like the place needs to be investigated just like other residential treatment programs. Then again, I will mention that there's a petition used as an attempt to stop the issue and the HR 911 bill needs more support while more people who knows about it should speak up for themselves. Can't see that happening since they're weak themselves to openly admit that they're against abusive activities done at these place. It's not just psychological pain, sometimes, they're forced to be sexually abused and physically by professionals in there. Corporal punishments have been known to cause severe pain and there has been already documented facts that verify that it can even cause death. You're better off getting her parents knows about the HR 911 bill and the proof of activities being in there. If they won't buy into it, I wish you can inflict some pain into them when they're at hard time since they won't deserve the support if they're into supporting institutionalized child abuse . If they do and they managed to get out, then I want you to bring motivation to let her speak up for herself for many to know about these programs and how they do not work to make people a productive member.

http://www.groveschool.org/ This is the place. She also says they take away your laptop and cell phone for the first two weeks. She can't talk much anymore because they have sites like Deviant Art blocked. http://saidtheshadow.deviantart.com/journal/34933985/ Here is where she talks about it.

Deviant Art is flagged as an adult site because there is a great deal of artistic nudity. Along with that is enough that crosses the line into soft porn that it is often not considered a "safe" place by schools or youth oriented organizations. Deviant Art has adult content filters that can be turned on, but there are people that don't play by the rules. It's too bad. There is some VERY good art at that site if you are willing to sift through the mountains of average stuff and tolerate the crap.

A girl with PDD-NOS and the social maturity of a twelve year old was raped at Landmark College

My question is, what was someone with the social maturity of a 12-year-old doing at college -- even a special needs college -- in the first place? That is someone who should be living at home. I don't know much about "disability schools," but I assume that they, like regular colleges, are aimed at yong adults from their late teens to early twenties. Some people are prepared for college before this, but not all! I cannot imagine any 12-year-old who is socially prepared for college. No matter this young woman's actual age or brains, her social maturity level indicates she needs a few more years at home, and possibly a tutor who specializes in social development.

Actually, most people with AS/autism don't get past that level of skill until they're well into their adult years. As far as I can tell, most twelve-year-olds actually have me beat as far as social skills go, and I've been on my own for several years now.

Don't confuse "social skills as good as the average 12-year-old's" with "lack of common sense" or "lack of ability to protect oneself" or "lack of ability to take care of oneself". Just because I am not any good at interacting with people doesn't mean I haven't found other ways to handle the problems I come up against.

You can't blame the woman's social skills for the fact that she was raped. People with good social skills are raped all the time, too. And people with autism, however good our social skills, still frequently have that tendency to look like easy victims just because our body language is different--however well we communicate with others.

I'm a Christian and I have no problem with girls wearing shorts.

I know, I love wearing shorts and I'm a Christian, I cannot imagine not being able to wear shorts...

I think they mean those shorts that barely cover your butt-cheeks.... yeah... I don't like those...
