So I've seen the ribbon/puzzle thingy for autism awareness. Are there any other such symbols about?

I'm considering signing my artwork with an autism symbol. Or more nefariously, hiding them in my drawings and paintings.

My favorite is the rainbow möbius strip:

It was created by an autistic woman who has an autistic kid.

Ooooo. I like that one. I've always been fascinated by Möbius strips.

I have been looking for something in black and white that would work as a tattoo and have thus far been unable to find anything except that puzzle piece which I really dislike.

I do like the Moebius strip.

Couple of suggestions: (1) invent your own symbols; and (2) hold a contest, perhaps through WP with its polling functions. Just a thought. Best of luck!

I came up with this one a while ago. I still like it.

Is the puzzle ribbon trade marked by Autism Speaks?

How about a Möbius strip with an infinity symbol passing through it? I'll draw it up later.

No but I think someone else did try to trademark it. I don't know how successful they were. This was before Autism Speaks even existed. Long before. I think it was various autism societies that started it.

Nice idea. :)
I'm not a fan of the puzzle piece either and it's "mysterious" connotations.

Here's my stab at it. It's a sketch and needs quite a bit of work but the idea is clear

Hey! You're right. I was unintentional.

This is meant to be what is called an impossible figure. The way the straight bar, infinity symbol and mobius strip intertwine is impossible in real life. I think I can change the way they overlap to make it more obvious.

The white bar represents aspies telling it straight. The black infinity represents autism's impenetrable complexity, and the mobious strip the diversity of the autism spectrum.

Thank you. Nice sreen name :D

wavefreak I love that symbol...so much symmetry...I feel like I could stare at it for hours. And I got the "impossibleness" of it right away, reminded me of an Escher drawing.

wavefreak58,

That image looks excellent. My eyes keep sliding off parts, but I like what I am sure I am seeing. :D
