Alright. Listen.

I've PMed like 5 different people. With adequate messeges.

NONE of them have replied back. And I still see a couple of them active on the forums. I mean I was nice in my PM ... so what is the problem?

Anyone else have to deal with this? It ircks me a little.

...Maybe they didn't notice? If they don't have it set to warn them when they get a new message, it's not like the small text at the top of the page is immediately noticeable. Also, just because it says they're online doesn't necessarily mean that they're currently on the board. When did you PM them, anyways?

I pm with about 5 other wp members.
Some people do have a different day/night schedule I noticed.
Time differences may occur as well.

Some people told me that it's hard for them to write a message back. Sometimes it takes a while before they respond. However, my experience is that on this forum, people often do reply to a pm they received, sometimes just a few lines to say they are busy and reply to my message later.

I hope this will comfort you a bit.

Its sometimes hard to write a PM, since its only going to be read by one person... I am very paranoid about getting the wording right and if I am coveying exactly what I want to say. So this sometimes causes delay in corespondence.

Though I usually eventually reply, but sometimes I may check a pm and then forget. It's kind of hard to say about people, with out really knowing thier personality. I want to reply though, since the other person took the time to write a message directly to you... its would be rude not to at least respond a little I think. I kind of expect the same when I send out PMs, though I know people may have different thoughts on the subject.

I wouldn't get too paranoid about it. Since there are so many unkowns.

I think this topic is very useful as a way make things clear about sending pm's.
It may make things very clear about expectations, the reasons people do no seem to reply (that soon). It is very interesting to talk about these issues I think.

Some people are in different time zones.

I suggest you be patient.

Uh, why should time zones matter? If they're online: they're online.

Anyways, you could try requesting on the site board for the 'Pop up on new message' thing to be on as a default if you think people aren't noticing it. Or if they're just being asses about it and dodging your PMs, at least then they can't make excuses by saying they never noticed.

It's just because of where they are.

I wasn't trying to imply anything unrealistic.

That's only for the person themselves setting it - it doesn't affect the person you are sending them to. It's a personal setting.

Sometimes it takes me several days before I'm able to form an adequate response to a PM. I always try to get back though.

I meant if an admin could set up that option to be the default for all users, not just for him.

I'm like Sundy, I find PMs difficult to handle for some reason. It's the same with one-on-one IM chats...but if you chat with me enough times, it gets better.

Some people may just find PMs difficult and feel as though they can't formulate a "proper" response. I try not get offended when people don't respond.
