You might find that if you aren't so depressed/anxious/psychotic then you aren't so distracted from reading non verbal communication.

So indirectly, perhaps, to a small degree.

An empathogen might help, but that's beyond my ken.

No, why would it?
Reading non-verbal communication is skill to work on. It is not a medication problem.
Is someone really telling you to get on meds to fix communication issues? That's not right.

Not a chance. That kind of thing can't be medicated. Mood can be medicated, but at the cost of side effects.

You can, to a point, learn to read nonverbal communication, but it's lots of bookwork followed by lots of practice socialising (and, if you're anything like me, socialising is less than appealing!).

If you're on medications for nonverbal communication problems, someone, somewhere, is misselling drugs and should be prosecuted for it. Talk to your doctor about coming off them. Do NOT just come straight off them. This can cause all kinds of really nasty side effects. I learned this the hard way.

Happy pills can help with some other conditions, such as depression, but usually at the cost of other, usually milder, side effects.

Niall and jackbus:

No, no one is trying to sell me pills specifically for reading non-verbal communication, so no worries there.

Thank all for the responses.
