Does death pain and decay bother you?
Does the hurt you feel inside get you down?

They say Its all in your head.

With their tanks, and their bombs, and their guns, they shoot your brothers down,
the pain is only in your head, its not you thats dead.

When you get dumped or cheated on don't let it get you down,
it only hurts you if you let it, its all in your head.

When you see the garbage along the streets and smell it feeling its getting knee deep,
its all in your head, the sights and smells and sounds wouldn't affect you if you was dead.

You wont miss the animals that are becoming extinct if you never seen one,
so don't let it get you down, its all in your head.

So when you tell me that I am not cute or that I am ugly, or unwanted,
but not to let it all get me down, Your telling me your wanting me to be dead.

And when I tell you that I am different then my common brethren,
an aspie other then a normal human, you tell me its all in my head,
that there is nothing wrong or different about me.

Sorry, sorry, sorry, but its you who are becoming numb and making
your self and the world dead with your ignorance and naivety.

It's all in your head.

I love the way you tell it like it is, aspergian_mutant.

Nice, very nice. It's awesome to read such passion.

I feel the need to read it again.

Very good. Thanks for sharing. What I get from a first reading is that everything is in one's head since everything has to be experienced. Everyone experiences things differently. Some of us experience things in a way that is quantitatively different from others, and that which those others cannot perceive, they reject.

I guess one source of conflict is that we don't reject the validity of their world, as they do ours.

And, of course, a failure to perceive another's reality, in so many ways and senses, leads to death.

i agree with all of your post, except the bit above, litguy. i think there's a lot of rejection of "their" world on this board. the way i see it, it's "our" world, and that includes everybody - people with AS, NTs, all races, genders, ages, etc., etc.

I'm sure you're right. What I meant is that we (you and I, at least), recognize other people's perceptions of the world as real, and, therefore, valid, for them. Too often, that respect is not reciprocated.

I agree that there is one world, to be shared by all, with all living, working, playing, etc., often as one, and, certainly, with respect for one another. I think that you and I agree that too many others (and since you suggest it is true, I will include some participants here among them) do not share that attitude.

The sum of who we are is not only what we experience but also how we feel about it,
how we react to it, or else we would be but zombies in this world.

Many do not want to see or accept the world as it is and try to look the other way,
thats not easy to do if they see others reflecting how they feel about their own environments
and how they are treated, so they try to close them off as well, then they learn that
this helped them in some small way by not dealing with a thing and then also reflect
that back to you as well as a good thing when it may not be,
it is not always right or healthy to be zombie.
There are some choices that only you should and could make,
how you feel and believe is one of them.
We cannot make our world into a better place to exist for all of us and our selves
by ignoring things and how we feel about them.

Changes start from within us all, just because we feel about them.
doing nothing, changes nothing, except the fate of our selves and our world.
.
Yes, it all starts "In our heads".

It's always been in my head.

Still trying to figure it out myself. 8O
