We drove to Los Angeles, CA from Charlottesville, VA in less than 48 hours. That has got to be some sort of record. Unfortunately it was much colder and much cloudier in Los Angeles than it was in Virginia when we left.

I'm still curious - what were the circumstances of your move?

the boardwalk can be interesting for a little while if not too crowded. i like watching people play basketball or paint the graffiti walls. go to antique shops on Abbot Kinney. walk along the canal but be sure to be on the "nice" side of .. i think it's washington that divides the well kept canal area from the fishy gross part.

or drive to culver city and go to the museum of jurassic technology. a must see.

Good luck, Alex. I hope you will like it.
Los Angeles has an active autistic community and a vibrant autistic culture, which is centered in the UCLA area, between Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. (quite close to Venice).
If you want to immerse yourself in LA's autistic culture, then you can start by contacting LA's chapter of the ASAN:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=135493689468
They will surely connect you with some pivotal figures in LA's autistic community.

Sleep. After ten days you are now a native.

Beware of Californians.

The truth is hard, invent scrips to deal with the locals.

Look close, it is role actors running wild.

They are in costume and on script, just guess what movie and feed them their next line.

What did you do back east?

I've been living here all of my life. There are a lot of shallow people who are from other places wishing they were famous. The paparazzi are vicious. They bully aspies!

BUT there is amazing culture here. Downtown LA is a must see. Tons of history and food. The architecture is amazing all over LA, Pasadena. Go to the Getty and the LACMA. Be careful in Venice a lot of gangs. But tons of food and shopping, the famous muscle beach walk around and see the art and freaks, art. You don't say what you like to do or interests so it's guessing. The Cat & Fiddle in Hollywood is a nice bar restaurant to socialize at night especially on a summer night. Open in and outdoor fireplace seating, great atmosphere, live music.

Pick up the LA weekly and see whats going on there.

Have fun. The locals, like myself, who were born here are really cool!

give me a break.

L.A. is mostly full of ordinary people, just like everywhere else.

most of the negativity directed toward the people here is from people who do not live here.

Whoa, I just joined up here but...anyone mind telling me why this is a sticky topic? Is there some sort of 'thing' with people with Asperger's moving to Los Angeles? I'm moving to LA, probably this Fall.

I can see a few Asperger's-related advantages:
-Music and videogames are my main passions in life. I'd like to find a career in music.
-I'm sensitive to the cold, and I'm always happy when it's sunny outside.
-Don't judge me, but I just love smoking weed.
-Lots of people = anonymity, opportunities to practice social skills...I love going out every weekend

Moving to LA fits me in a variety of other ways too. Is it common for Aspergers peeps to move to LA for some reason?

He deserves a bit of recognition.
