An antissocial is a person with criminal tendencies and who is aggressive toward others; an associal is a person who wants to be left alone.

i definitely was and am still somewhat associal

i don't care about having any guy friends, maybe because growing up I felt they tried to make me look bad around girls, I don't want friends if that is what friends do

I just want women, people tell me I look like a model yet I can't remember the last time a woman (not old enough to be my mom) flirted with me

I guess it depends on the environment. Due to a survival instinct, people predisposed to Asperger's syndrome or a related social deficit revert to shyness or become quiet as a reaction in order to feel "safe". So maybe "quiet and shy" or "weird" is a way of saying, "I'm protecting myself from harm, and acting weird" as a social reflex by fitting a sociologically-given stereotype. Think about it :)

You became bodybuilder to compensate. Is it possible you became the "class clown" consciously or subconsciously as a way of compensating for some social problem? You may not know or remember why you did that as you were pretty young.

Aspies often do not know that they are strange or annoying to other people. I'm 5'4 inches myself so the bullying was a large part a result of my size of that but now I realize there was more to it. Aspergers is more then social issues. Do you or have you had problems with executive functions such as planning, organizing, retaining instructions? Is their a coordination issues?

If you can, talk to your family about your young years.

Bottom line is there has to be some indications early, if not your issue is not Aspergers. Either way you need to figure it out probably with professional help.

Been training myself to fit in so long I have to remind myself to be more literal here. Sad

I wasn't being literal; I just thought you were referring to me with the hyperfocus thing.

I was typically social as a toddler. My mum says that looking back, nobody would have even guessed that I had AS or anything, not even a professional neurologist. It wasn't until I started school was when all my AS symptoms all came out at once.

with girls AS is often missed because females develop it differently than males and often the symptoms show up more later. Also girls with AS are sometimes more social so it's not as recognized in them when they are younger and girls tend to mimic socially better than boys so it's easier to miss AS in them. They are much better at becoming social chameleons;

I have been reading some articles about AS in females and this seems to be a common thread in all of the articles. I had posted a couple of good ones on another thread but I can't remember the name of the thread.

If youre refering to 'antisocial/asocial"':

"Antisocial" actually means like a criminal- doing bad stuff against society. If you like to vandalize your neighbors' mail boxes with cherry bombs -that would 'antisocial behavior'.

If youre just a loner or a hermit or just keep to yourself and dont go to parties than youre 'non-social', or 'asocial'- some term like that would be preferable.
