Does anybody else ever get like this? I do most of the time even though it doesn't make much sense.

For example, suppose I am going to take the bus or walk somewhere, but before I go someone tells me they can drive me. I'll generally become slightly annoyed at this and kindly refuse the offer, even though it would save me time and effort.

Yes, yes I do. I would just like to stick to the original plan. Sometimes I refuse lifts if I really feel I need the exercise or just because I have to stick to my first choice or I'll be completely thrown off my routine for the rest of the day.

Yeah, I do that a lot. Other people tell me it drives them nuts.

I am like that. If it hurts or if it helps, any kind of change in my plans mess me all up.

slightly annoyed? Yes. But I wouldn't turn down the offer without a logical reason.

I get annoyed but mostly because it is interrupting me in some way.
IE: Now I have to stop what I was doing, regroup, and start over again.

Yes. It does actually make sense because even good changes disrupt the routines and situations that we're familiar with and able to deal with easily. It's known even among nonautistic people that for instance they get stressed as much about going on a fun vacation as about anything negative.

For the most part no because I wouldn't have to drive or take the bus. If it's going to disrupt my plans, I tell them no thanks and thank them for offering.

Oh yes, so much. I value the solitude I get from walking or taking the bus, too (at least when those options are available).

I really dislike changes in my routine, especially when they rob me of the space to be alone.

I'm like that too. It annoys me, mainly because I know I'm stiffing myself by refusing things that would only make things easier for me.

Buses generally terrify and overwhelm me. If I can do anything to get out of taking a bus I will. When I worked it was one of the most depressing and stressful aspects of my day. We were like cattle being taken to slaughter.

On a more cheerful note, I haven't had to take a bus in several years, which is a good thing as all the bus services are being drastically cut around here. Along with the libraries.

I have learnt since accepting lifts into town that I would be much better doing it alone. God are those people I'm with ever so agonizing. It takes extra time for them to buy something because they won't stop chatting and even when they bought the product they were still chatting.

Yes, it does make sense in that way but I was referring to times when change meant being able to skip a step completely, rather than doing something different but supposedly easier instead, if that makes sense.
