Anyone seem more sensitive to their sensory things after they've just woken up? It's like I'm hung over every time I wake up.

I'm more sensitive to sounds and feel a bit dizzy, but nothing special, I suppose.

yeah, for me it's sound and smells. i feel like i have a hard time moving fom an environment of complete nutrality, like i've adjusted to it as i've slept, and moving back to everyday hustle and bustle.

I was just thinking about this earlier.
Yes, I am this way. Everything from sounds to touch to eye contact and even smells are completely overwhelming when first waking up. When I was younger I used to think people were being intentionally more annoying in the morning than later in the day. Now I realise I am just more sensitive.

Yes, especially sounds. For some reason it happens more when I wake up from a nap, also.

I wake up tired. I thought it was due to my inattentive side of ADHD. Some days I can just bounce out of bed.
The cats meow is especially annoying and will be the one thing that eventually makes me get up. A full bladder is the second but I've been known to hold it.

Me too! It's dreadful, because I'll sleep so peacefully but then be put in a bad mood by just walking to the kitchen where my family is :(

If it's still dark I will cover my eyes with the blanket before turning on the lamp. Then slowly pull the blanket away.

Also if possible I prefer to wake up to the radio alarm instead of the dreaded buzzer(where is my hammer?).

Very much so, especially sounds. The sound of clinking dishes at breakfast, ug, it's like hammers pounding on my eardrums. I'm also much more irritable when I wake up too, but I don't think that's uncommon.

 i'd prefer the radio too but it doesn't wake me. the buzzer on the other hand causes me to literally jump out of bed. im so conditioned to reacting that way when i hear it that every time i hear a similar sound i will start violently and gasp.

i wouldn't say i typically have sensory issues but sounds are louder in the morning and night when i try sleep and the light is painful to my eyes, way more so than in the day. i sleep with all curtains shut, a blindfold, covers over my head and the pillow too to avoid the light but it is still too bright. as for sounds, there isn't much i can do about that. i'm not allowed to shut my door because my parents are like big brother and i can hear them breathe/snore and make coffee and clobber about in their shoes which seem to echo powerfully in my mind. my sisters don't make things better. they scream and shout in the morning.

I've trained my parents to shut the door when they first come in the kitchen in the morning.

Well, I don't like any kind of sounds that are supposed to wake me up. I hated radios, alarm tunes and tones, my mother's voice etc., so I've learned to take a glance at a digital clock from time to time between sleeping periods in the morning, trying to wake up in time by myself. Usually it works. :D

Same exact situation for me too! I especially hate it when I fall asleep on the couch when it's peaceful and quiet... then someone turns on the TV or starts cooking or something... So I try to take naps upstairs, but sometimes I'm just so tired I fall asleep.
Usually, though, the most trivial of noises (to everyone else) are the ones that wake me up, such as someone eating out of a glass bowl with a metal utensil in a different room, or my sister kicking the soccer ball around.
I don't like being bombarded with social interaction after I just wake up, either.

Yes, sounds can be very disturbing in the morning.

Yeah, me too. The alarm clock I had during high school sounded like the beeping a truck makes when it's backing up, so now when I hear that sound or a similar beeping sound I get freaked out and panic a little.
