I notice that a lot of people here don't seem to be as committed to their Special Interest as i am.

I LOVE sonic! LOVE LOVE LOVE! i'd say that maybe 4 years ago i would've been a 10 or a 11 but now its down to a 8.5 or a 9.

So, i make my own Sonic clothes, sonic hoodie (with quills), i know pretty much everything, when i see anything sonic related i LITERALLY loose control, its like a happy meltdown. I think about it 24/7 usually involving my fan characters, ive drawn nothing but sonic the hedgehog characters and fan characters for the past 6 years, anything other than sonic is not very interesting, when i first got into the obsession i COULD NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM. my dad had to beg me to stop, i changed my name to "mephiles" for 3 years. i can name every single sonic character (excluding Archie universe)
...but i only own 4 sonic games LOL XD I rarely wear a article of clothing that does not having sonic on it, once i wore a sonic shirt for 1 year straight without washing it and only taking it off for showering and swimming, it mysteriously disappeared one day after my dad talked me out of taking it off for a night so he could wash it...

so how obsessed are you?

Currently it is Lord of the Rings Online for me. And is at least a 9 on the obsession scale. I started on it around the beginning of November. I play it for hours a day. I could easily stay on it 24 hours straight. It fills my dreams so l even play it in my sleep.
My characters are:
Elrashea the Elf Champion
Esrador the Man Lore Master
Ezrashea the Hobbit Guardian
Odkeg the Dwarf Minstrel
Supro the Hobbit Burglar
Thurafang the Man Captain
When I'm not playing it, I'm on the Lotro wiki or the Lotro forum.

Hmm, I'm dealing with the dark side of obsession right now which is negative self obsession. Actually looking to get into something outside myself to obsess about before it kills me. I used to be an 11 on Japanese food, it was literally all I would do all day every day was research recipes, write them out for my cookbook, watch videos on knife and cooking techniques, categorise every single piece of specialist equipment for gourmand cuisine, cook for whoever would eat it (after a while everyone got sick of that) take pictures of successful dishes and talk about it all the time. I think people actually got worried about my mental health.
These days I'm a bit more moderate, but yes, I apparently have to obsess about something and obsessing about my problems and issues is Very Bad, so bring on the new obsession!! !

My obsession changes frequently. One month is films and the next it's The Elder Scrolls. There is no all encompassing single topic, so I can't vote here. All of my topics are an easy 8 when I'm into them, but I'm not only into one thing all of the time. It changes often.

Probably a 5 or 6. I enjoy my "special interests" very much.

I'm the same way. But it's like there's always something. Even though it goes from one thing to the next, it's always there. And it feels kinda weird going from totally obsessed to disintegrated in one thing and from disinterested to totally obsessed in the other thing.

A moderate 5.
I know many things about it, but there are people who know more.

I've been obsessed with Star Trek since about 2010. When it started out, it was definitely a ten, since then, it's waned to about a seven, but can periodically spike back up to an eight or nine when I start watching the episodes again. I went to a Star Trek convention in 2012 and got my picture taken with Kate Mulgrew (Capt. Kathryn Janeway), Tim Russ (Vulcan chief of security Tuvok), Brent Spiner (android lieutenant commander Data), Levar Burton (blind chief engineer Geordi LaForge), and William Shatner (Capt. James Kirk). I've seen every episode of every series (Orignial Series, The Next Generation, Voyager, and Enterprise) except for Deep Space Nine, of which I'm still trying to get past season three. I didn't like DS9 as much as the others; not enough character development, and too much politics. My favourite is absolutely Voyager, and I'm almost finished watching all seven series (179 episodes) for the second time. Seven of Nine is my avatar, and she's my hero. She's a half-human half-borg (cybernetic robot who used to be connected to a single "hive mind" by the evil Borg queen), and eighteen years being held mentally prisoner by the Borg collective essentially gave her the social, emotional and functioning skills of a high functioning autistic. Her cybernetic implants (some of which couldn't be removed because they control parts of her autonomic nervous system) even give her hypersensitivity to sensory stimuli, so I worship her as the most amazing aspie in the universe (literally).

This video is an excellent example of what I'm talking about. Seven is being taught social skills by the Doctor (the bald man at the piano who keeps helping her), and in this scene, she's practising going on a date with another crew member. I find it very amusing, because it reminds me very much of myself.

Yes, exactly the same. One day I'm just not interested and won't be for months, or possibly ever.

German, Germany, German accents, Germans speaking German, German culture, German history, etc.
I'm very obsessed. I voted a 9 on the scale. If anything related to Germany comes up, I get super excited and I scream with happiness and flap my hands (even in public!). I have a huge German flag on my bedroom wall  and have been to Germany countless times.

I'm a 7 at the moment. My obsessions change very quickly, within weeks or months, usually. In the beginning I'm usually a 10, and I can't seem to do much else. I have to pull myself away just to get things done.

I am "8,5" in the poll. Where should i clic?

9- I try and talk about other things and have side interests but non are as intense as my main special Interest, i find it difficult to do anything else other than my interest.

8,5 - developed several points of interests (3-4), which are all very much time consuming.
(i used to have only one interest but was closing me a lot to everything, and it was taking an unrealistic importance)
- i also choose interests that can be of use in a social environment.

8- I have many interests but there is one that tops the rest. There isn't much id rather do other than anything involving my favourite topic.

I find it higher if you speak it on the top of a moutain and lower if you speak it at the seaside, from the point of view of a human and reverse from the point of view of a moon inhabitant.
