I suffer from the grandiose delusion that it is my constant fidgeting that prevents my state of California from falling into the ocean.

Yeah. People always ask me if I'm nervous when I feel fine because of it.

I remember hearing that it burns quite a few calories. NPR, I think. And yes, lots. Recently, I've started bouncing on my balance ball desk chair.

Yup, I tend to find it difficult to sit totally still.

I don't know how people DON'T fidget. I am almost always using my computer or iPod because I have to keep my hands busy. When I am sitting in a chair or something I usually shake my leg or something.

I fidget almost constantly, including when I'm not nervous. Sometimes it's practically invisible, like tapping my teeth together lightly in a pattern that corresponds to a melody. Often it's not practically invisible.

I've noticed that when I'm nervous, I fidget in different ways than when I'm not nervous. My nervous fidgeting tends to have more sharp/sudden motions or pressure than my non-nervous fidgeting.

I'm wiggling my toe right now, and I have nothing to be nervous about.
