I've often said that loud noises and crying children are among the worst sounds for me(because they hurt my ears) but I've recently found another. A coworker sitting next to me eats sunflower seeds all day long and the constant lip smacking and sucking noise she makes disgusts me. I want at the same time to puke and scream at her to stop. The worst part of all is that the sound doesn't hurt my ears, it just sickens me. What's the worst sound in the world for you?

Brillo pads on metal pans.

Squeaky brakes.

Nails run down chalkboards

Sound of a finger finding the note run around the top of a wine glass.

People dragging their feet on the floor.
Screaming children.
Car horns.
People scraping their fingernails on paper.

People who whistle their S's when they talk. Liek the old Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh.

That's what I was just thinking of!

Water swishing in someone's mouth ticks me off.

These days (or should I say, years) that f..king clock radio, you know, with that ear-piercing metallic sound tuned to a trashy commercial program that my colleagues listen to and make me listen to it too all day. Ignorance, to say the least.

I really don't like high-pitched sounds and the sound of fingernails going down a school board. Even the thought gives me the creeps.
