I crafted a poll to see whether someone can have AS, but not "executive dysfunction," (curious) and how, if they have this, if their condition fades away into near a non-issue, but then expresses itself to an impairing level. In other words does this widely fluctuate with you?
A short definition: Executive functioning is primarily the use of your working memory to plan things , and such as keeping track of multiple data streams, and executing these actions. This "working memory" permeates into the social sphere and "practical" things. It could be driving, communicating, or simply shopping.
I have ADHD, and have a widely fluctuating performance level. I'm not sure why this vacillates like this, but according to the literature this is "par" or not unusual for this condition.
I suspect stress and lack of sleep as one trigger, but I believe I still fluctuate, to a lesser degree in "normal" periods. (Obviously) I've been born with this, and I think living with this you get used to these higher functioning levels, and you're duped into thinking you're normal. But when thinking hard about my functioning level, I'm still quite impaired, when I see myself alongside my compatriots.
In other words I'm always compensating for this, even on a "good" day, but I don't really notice it, until I watch myself -- the Joe next store doesn't do what I do.
How's your level WP?
