www.wikipedia.org term: "hikikomori" AKA Ultra Nerd

"Some 3.3% of Japanese males have PDD compared with approximately 1% in Europe and the US"

interesting, so far more people have aspergers in some countries than others. I wonder if there is a connection between the % of people in the population with ASD and the wealth of a country?. More statistics would be needed to come to this conclusion though..

More Japanese consider themselves introverts than in any other country. Israel has the most who consider themselves extroverts. Both are wealthy countries, relatively speaking.

Maybe it's a cultural difference. A lot of people who have AS might not seem like it because of social pressures (similar to the theories of why there are less diagnosed females).

I agree, the Japanese culture is actually quite accepting to AS people, with all it's order, rituals and routine, it's probably as close as you get to an Aspie country with the NTs being the ones who 'rebel' and look out of place . They like people who get obssessed with wierd stuff over there and it's pretty much encouraged.

Except they seem to like for everyone to get obsessed with the same thing at the same time. It's all about fads there, but everyone is supposed to get into the same fads.
