She's NINE for gosh sakes. Kids say stupid things. Sure she isn't Aspie? Seems like an NT child ought to know better than to insult.

Oh wait. I forgot. Kids are getting ruder and more disrespectful these days, aren't they? Sounds like she needs a good whuppin'!

Actually, that IS a typical rude NT kid. Nope. I'm SURE she needs a good whuppin'! !

So she is a typical 9 year old then. The best way to deal with this is to not engage her, or brush it off like you don't care by blandly saying "Ok, if you say so."

She will then probably go around and announce very loudly that she is smarter than you, and the best thing to do is just ignore it. It's a phase.

Just tell her to talk to the hand and put your hand up. She'll understand that.

Here's a training video!

Surely basic manners for a 9yr old would dictate that even though you think you may be smarter than someone, you should never say it to their face. It seems to me that NT kids need just as much social skills training than AS kids, with a different curriculum. But, if she didn't say it with a straight face, maybe she was just kidding. Don't take it seriously anyway.

Well, she's 9.. that's how kids are. They all say those kinds of things. My 12 year old nephew spews out a bunch of nonsense like UR MOM or other sorts of things.. there's no point in arguing back.

Vile little snit.

I'm betting she treats her peers with even less respect.

One thing I figured out a long time ago is that people can't hurt you as much if you don't want their approval. So I focus on those people I whose approval means something to me. Everyone else is just noise in the system.

Well is she smarter than you? Age is no indication of intellect.

Does it matter? Rude is rude whether it comes from the mouth of a genius or dolt.

She might be gifted and have a big head about it, but I kind of doubt it. Sounds like she's just being kind of a brat.

What really matters is context TBH, and we've seen none of it.

I think some of you are taking this a little serious, I mean its a 9 year old....they still have lots of learning to do. Honestly that sounds like something I might have said at that age without really thinking about if it was rude...I don't think its something to get too upset over.

9-year old girls are often arrogant idiots who think they are smart when they aren't, tend to be cruel and pick on people who aren't very social, and are extremely rude. Take no heed of what she says.
