AH! Super excited/nervous to see a austism specialist tom!! !
Tomorrow I finally see a specialist! I finally will talk to someone who can actually better diagnose me to see if I have Asperger's or not!
My current therapist doesn't think I have Asperger's, but he's really ignorant when it comes to what it means to have asperger's as a woman. He said I wasn't "odd" and that I make eye contact, thus I don't have aspergers. I'm not mad at him though, but I was a little offended... but then I have been take a bunch of quizzes that I've found on here and I keep getting back results that say I am most likely NT... so now I'm thinking maybe he was right... but anywho, I'm just happy I'll get to talk to someone in-person who can help figure out if I have asperger's or not.
Sorry if this is kind of weird/unimportant, but I just felt like posting. I don't want to tell my parents because they probably wouldn't believe me (that I might have aspergers) and I don't want to tell my friends because I don't want them to judge me.

Make sure you're actually tested properly and that you're allowed to express, to your satisfaction, why you're concerned that you might have Asperger's. I've blogged extensively about the psychologist I saw not doing his job, not giving me the assessment I went in there for, so that the whole thing was a pointless exercise. If you're afraid it will be hard for you to assert yourself if things go wrong, see if you can identify anyone you know who might be able to help you and advocate for proper assessment.
My heart goes out to you for the reaction of your therapist. I don't know if you're on the spectrum or not, but I hope that, whatever process is followed, you get evaluated fairly and accurately, so you can have the truth and be able to decide how to proceed from there. There's no substitute for being able to make sense of yourself and your life.

I hope it would turn out this time you can have real answers for your questions. I wish you good luck.
Nevertheless, if specialists consistently told you you haven't got an ASD, don't be disappointed, there's plenty of room here or other places around Aspies where you'll be always welcomed. Maybe you have some other disorder or mental condition and only a few traits of ASD. That's fine, you are an individual with individual traits!

I'm pleased to know you were able to persist in your pursuit of self-understanding to the point of receiving an answer that satisfies you and reveals the things you needed to know. This is a good result, and your drive towards self-discovery has clearly paid off. You sound like someone who will be able to make the most of what you've learned and what you will learn in the future. Good luck to you!
