When there are postive traits of Aspies- ie) honestly, rule following, interests- they say "oh well that's not just Aspies, or autism" and then point out that NT's have these traits too.
1. We're not incapable of lying... we just suck at it really badly, and (almost) never manage to do it consistently & convincingly without lots of obsessive advance planning. Give us a week to script our strategy, and we could almost convince ourselves we're telling the truth. Or, we tell the truth because we don't care enough to expend the huge effort it takes to lie convincingly.
2. We follow rules, as long as we made them and doing so reduces our anxiety & stress. There's nothing holy about rules imposed upon us by others. Or even anything holy about holiness in general. We like when *others* follow rules, because it makes them predictable. Most of us start OUT as "rule nazis" as kids, but we eventually figure out that it makes everyone hate us, and realize that having everyone hate you is a Bad Thing™.
3. Interests are good. Spending the day before a hurricane makes landfall obsessively researching inverter-type generators and agonizing between 1800 and 2500 watts, instead of putting up the shutters and buying supplies is bad. Very, VERY bad.
