Okay, is anyone else annoyed by the fact that some people ( I'm sure both AS and NT), have no problem generalizing the negative aspects of AS to Aspies - ie) lack of social etiquette, not understanding humor, literal take on things etc..
BUT
When there are postive traits of Aspies- ie) honestly, rule following, interests- they say "oh well that's not just Aspies, or autism" and then point out that NT's have these traits too.

It's like they have no problem making us feel inferior, but we can be superior to them (at least in some ways).

Anyone else feel that way?

NTs have the flaws too.

Aspies are X-Men. NTs are jealous.

Sure, but it's not quite the same my dear. They may have flaws but they can still get by, becuase they are still able to socialize or at least manipulate enough to fit it.
Aspies are different

They have the flaws in AS just as much as they have the positives of AS.

Of course not. NTs are afraid of admitting any flaws in themselves, but are quick to point it out in others. It's all about building status to get the best mating partner (from an evolutionary perspective)

I think it best to not compare myself along any line of superiority or inferiority, and yet I do know NT folks who just do not have the same commitment or "bent" toward my kind of honesty, following rules and some other traits. So for myself, the challenge is to just be what I am and try to be tolerant of their ... oh, whatever it is that keeps them from comprehending.

1. We're not incapable of lying... we just suck at it really badly, and (almost) never manage to do it consistently & convincingly without lots of obsessive advance planning. Give us a week to script our strategy, and we could almost convince ourselves we're telling the truth. Or, we tell the truth because we don't care enough to expend the huge effort it takes to lie convincingly.

2. We follow rules, as long as we made them and doing so reduces our anxiety & stress. There's nothing holy about rules imposed upon us by others. Or even anything holy about holiness in general. We like when *others* follow rules, because it makes them predictable. Most of us start OUT as "rule nazis" as kids, but we eventually figure out that it makes everyone hate us, and realize that having everyone hate you is a Bad Thing™.

3. Interests are good. Spending the day before a hurricane makes landfall obsessively researching inverter-type generators and agonizing between 1800 and 2500 watts, instead of putting up the shutters and buying supplies is bad. Very, VERY bad.

I think a lot of NTs are not really aware of a lot of the advances in technology were made possible by Aspies or other people on the spectrum. Although, I'm starting to see small signs of a shift in highlighting the strengths of people with perceived disabilities.

I think that the point the OP was trying to make was that it's a sort of a double standard; not a debate about whether those with AS are better or worse than NTs.

Yet they write people like the 11th doctor and show all the good sides of us in him.

I don't get annoyed by that. I'm glad to find similarities in NTs and Aspies. I hate feeling different.

Nobody's 100 percent different, nobody's 100 percent the same.
