This past week has been really weird. Shirt tags and bras feel like barbed wire, and everything except fuzzy socks and pajamas feels like sandpaper. Usually my sensitivity to touch is the least of my problems, but lately it's been bad enough to distract me in class. I just got back to college so maybe that's a factor, but this has never happened before.

It could be a reaction to change and college stress. I find that any kind of anxiety can make my sensory issues more extreme. Anxiety is just part of the brain's primitive "fight or flight" response to help us avoid danger, so non-autistic people also tend to have more acute senses when they are stressed out.

It might be the dry winter air. I need to use a moisturizer or I get itchy.

I've started using a fabric softener and got a humidifier. Those seem to be helping a lot.
