It's the most current form of Leetspeak that was created in the early days of PC computing. "Leet" means Elite. It probably originated from early hackers and Phreakers (the earliest known hackers who hacked phone systems. The father of all hacking started with a guy nicknamed "Captain Crunch."). Somewhere along the way, the numerology came into play where numbers represented letters. As stated above.

Somewhere along the way, "Elite" evolved into "Leet." and "Leet" evolved into 1337.

interesting. As it starts at L what number represents the lower letters eg K ?.
guess its circular so it would be what z is if a was represented by 1 , if that makes seanse....

Whoah, I can't believe you can have so many obsessions...

Or are we confusing interests with obsessions?

ie: I'm very interested in reading fantasy, but because its not something I do every single day I wouldn't call it an obsession.

(In case I didn't state before, my obsessions are sound... words... and a new one developing is maths)

1. Beauty
2. Photography
3. Angst

I discovered I had a natural talent for Photography a few years back. I won't lie, I'm good at it. And proud, because I can't seem to be good at anything besides art.

The Beauty and Photography thing go hand in hand. I am obsessed with beautiful photographs, such as magazine adds, breathtaking landscapes, bright colors. I hate black and white photography and abstract. I also am partial to music with full-fledged orchestration. Usually soundtrack music. A perfect example is E.S. Posthumus.

The angst thing has always been around. I'm addicted to learning about disorders, pain, medical/mental conditions. I become obsessed with characters with major flaws. I will ONLY read books that focus on the mental turmoil or significant distress of the main character. But not so much that I can't relate to them. This makes it hard for me to find books to read.

I wouldnt say I have any obsessions right now. In fact, right now I'm obsessed with how I'm going to be able to arouse enough interest in anything to fill in the space that loss of interest in previous obsessions has left. That includes my obsession with Sainsbury's-and-other-supermarkets-but-especially-Sainsbury's, which is pretty much gone.
