Your score: 43
0 - 10 = low
11 - 22 = average (most women score about 15 and most men score about 17)
23 - 31 = above average
32 - 50 is very high (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 35)
50 is maximum
=================================================================

Your Aspie score: 169 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 47 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

Suspected something was wrong all my life, don't have a definitive diagnosis yet, but all the signs are there.

I can't seem to get a consistent score with this test.

It's bizarre.

When I used to study Science Subjects, my score was a steady 40.

But when I took up meditation and became interested in stories/the arts again, the score plummeted to 7!

My score metaphorically "yo-yos" (fluctuates).
It isn't consistent or stable any more.

My score is hovering at about 25 to 28 now.

But it has been right down to 15 some days!

Sometimes it changes when I eat certain foods or listen to music.

If I'm stressed and overwhelmed, my score increases.

When I'm relaxed, enjoy art or have someone listen to me, my score decreases.

This leads me to believe that AQ might be a measure of sensory environmental/psychosocial stressors a person is exposed to rather than something intrinsic to that person. I could be wrong though.

When I'm stressed and feel isolated, I sadly tend to be more interested in self preservation than socialising. I'm more vigilant. Sounds seem louder, colours brighter and I can detect rapid movements more easily. I don't know if this is a built in survival mechanism or not.

I'm starting to doubt the scientific validity of this test.

I would answer some of the questions very differently in different situations and the test doesn't take different styles of human communication into account. Some people feel connect better socially with some people than others. Sometimes superficial and friendly extraversion can ignore the deeper issues.

Hope I didn't let anyone down. I'll study, so I can get a perfect score next time.

According to one study, there does seem to be a correlation between having an ASD and scoring higher on the AQ:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_Spectrum_Quotient

That said, it isn't intended to be a diagnostic test. My scores tend to fluctuate between being borderline NT (around 34) and being firmly in the ASD range (41). My biggest problem is that there's no neutral "neither agree nor disagree" choice; for a few of the items, I tend to oscillate on whether I agree or disagree with the statements depending on how I feel when I take it.

My score was 29. I think those were some horrible questions! Not a good test!

44. Much higher than I anticipated. I honestly don't think I'm that far off average, but all these types of tests rate me pretty high.

I got a 36, it would have been a better test if I could understand some of the questions. I didn't know whether to answer the questions in a broad sense of a more specific sense.

43. I guess it doesn't differentiate between 'definite' and 'slight' responses. :?
