so ever since was in like 3ed grade, I've had trouble sleeping. Like I'll wake up at 1 am and not be able to go to sleep till 3 or 4 am. Or I can't fall asleep till 2 am ish. I also have to have a heavy blanket.
also, dreams seem way more real then they should. Like I had a dream that a huge man eating dinosaur was chasing me and my friends, and we were the only people alive. And I swear it felt just like reality, I woke up shaking and I texted my friends to see if they were ok.
is this AS related? Or just insomnia?

It could be what you're eating.
E.g. gluten, casein.

Edit: My sleep improved dramatically when I gave up these.

According to the books I've read, sleep problems are common among people with AS.

I have trouble sleeping, myself, but I don't know whether or not it is from my Autism.

I get about 4 hours of sleep each night.

Often it will be a racing mind keeping me from sleeping. I will be in "productive mode" in which I am -really- in the mood to play music and things like that, and laying down to sleep does absolutely nothing, I just lay there for hours (I always stop trying after 30 minutes and try doing stuff until I feel tired).

That's what I experience, too.

Edit:-

Quote:
Dinosaur

To see a dinosaur in your dream represents an all powerful fear. A fear that is too big to confront or so time consuming that you can't think of anything else.

To dream of being chased by a dinorsaur represents an all poweful fear that you are doing everything possible to avoid. You may feel like life is hanging from a thread.

When I was aged between 5 and 14, I had trouble falling asleep. When my cousins came to stay, they always fell asleep way before me, and I was always the last one who was wide awake. But after I got to about 15 or so, I started to fall asleep quicker and was able to sleep throughout the whole night, and I still can now (except for some odd nights). I just get so emotionally exhausted throughout the day, and I think this makes me tired. I do cherish a good night's sleep because it's the only way to get me away from real life and actually have the chance to rest.

I am friends with a lot of older people, (like in their 40s and 50s), and they tell me that they don't sleep properly at night any more. My mum doesn't either. Is this common in older women too?

Depends done any of this stuff.

Real way to guarantee they stop completely is to deal with the underlying personality issues they are trying to address. Fear, desire, guilt, envy, or attempts to control others are some of the more common problems people face. Without addressing them head on nightmares will remain a problem.

That's what happens to me. I can't get back to sleep, and it's too early to get up and do something.

I've had reoccuring dreams about jaguars since childhood. They never hurt me in my dreams They would sometimes have a go at other people, but never at me. My dreams usualy involve my special intrests.

To dream of a jaguar represents you or someone else that is intelligently noticing everything single little thing.

I've been told that the jaguar in my dreams represents myself before. Maybe he does, I just turned him into one of my original characters in my fanfics and art. I think jaguars my be a "totem" animal of mine. I also remember another dream about giraffes in a barren cage that was also reoccuring. People say the feeling of a dream is what is the important thing, the feeling in this dream was frustration. I also remember dreams about jaguars in cages...frustration, and sometimes dispair, was the theme in those as well.

I sleep well, but my dreams often have obviously impossible stuff happening (falling out of an airplane with no parachute and landing without even a scratch for example) so I tend to quickly realize Im dreaming. Then about 50% of the time I stay asleep and have aome fun in there.

It is common for aspies to have reduced levels of Melatonin at night time compared to other people. It induces sleep / awake patterns.

I have sleeping problems a lot, always have done.
